Regrettably, there are an awful lot of racists in Britain and many of them seem to have been emboldened since the EU referendum. I don't know much about this particular investigation but it's a shame it did not manage to prosecute the vile individuals who perpetrated these appalling acts. They need to face justice and be punished. Feel so sorry for the players and their families.

I don't have any stats to back this up, but I imagine the percentage of cases leading to a prosecution - let alone a conviction - is minimal.

All comes down to evidence
If it’s captured on cctv then it will be prosecuted. If it’s face to face or witnessed it will be prosecuted.
But if no one saw it and there’s nothing forensically useful at the scene then nothing to base a prosecution on.
