Really looking forward to being back at games (and hopefully we'll be watching imports)

Watching the local news last night it appears that most of the Eagles are now here. It’s going to be interesting to see how quickly the teams that had passport / visa issues can start to gel.
Rocks have had their import players a while so they should be well ahead with building chemistry in the team.

Not a great start from the Eagles. Understandable given late import arrival but lack of fitness and cohesion really stuck out. Get the impression we're going to live or die off the three this season and if Johnson, Sayers or Williams don't get hot it'll be a long night. 5 from 26 tonight 😕 Rocks have definitely got a player in Jordan Johnson and Jacdomi seems to have taken a step forward.

All away wins on the opening day of the season, a league first?
Not sure what was the bigger shock, this or Leicester. At least you both (plus Surrey actually) had a full house!

Eagles only played one preseason game (against USA select so not really competitive) and didn't have any imports available for that. Imports only arrived in the last week and it's a big roster shake up so don't think this was too much of a shock.

Well that was rather underwhelming after all those months waiting to get back to live action - Riders and Scorchers only lost by one but this was a demolition job by Rocks. The only impressive new Eagle was the Duke - will he follow the Prince and before that the King ?
Anyone know why the benches have moved west and why the commentator has decided this season we won't have quarters - just P1, P2 etc. ? It's not great when the little things niggle you already on the first day back !

Scoreboard not working in the first quarter, no pre game intro video/lights, no Dan Black and the ancient announcer pretty much left to his own devices all night. Might sound like a killjoy here but the stupid kiddy dancers needs to end too - it's awful, cringey to watch and nothing to do with basketball. Can only assume bench move is for social distancing as no one can walk behind the benches when their on that side as have to leave via centre doors.

Great to have 2500 fans back in the Arena.
Too early to say what this says about Eagles for the year ahead - they looked like a ream who hadn’t practised much together which is exactly what they are. And definitely some heavy legs.
Glasgow definitely much stronger this year and seemed well prepared and drilled. And Johnson looks like a real baller who will cause problems across the league.
Will be interesting to see what a week together will do for the Eagles next week against Sheffield.

That was the first game all the rocks imports actually played together. deserved win but margin of victory should have been higher. Last 3 or 4 mins no defence was really played.
Johnston looks to be a class above and you wouldn't know he had hurt himself a few weeks back. Harris looks an athlete but decided to fumble the ball twice going for a dunk, we have a great make up for the team so far. I hope Jaycee Hillsman gets better thought he looked a bit slow.

Very impressed with Glasgow, the point guard very much like Chris Paul

The bench layout switch is Covid protocol to ensure players and officials have a green zone. The foyer is the biggest problem Because you have queues for merchandise and drinks/food but it blocks people trying to get into the arena hence why tip Off had to be delayed

All felt a bit flat and pre seasony tonight, both the team and the crowd. Can understand the team being off the pace with the late arrivals. It seemed like there were quite a few broken plays where people didn't really seem to know what they were supposed to be doing or know where they should be. I'm sure that'll change given a few weeks of time together.
Having said that, the Rocks came to play and beat us soundly with the scoreboard flattering the Eagles. They looked well organised and have some talented players. Their point guard looks impressive and they have some decent size there as well. They certainly out hustled Eagles and thoroughly deserved their win.
Regarding the 'kid dancers', I think it's a way of putting a few more bums on seats with their families coming to watch them. It looked like they had a few technical difficulties with music etc. I guess to be expected after 18 months off. No intro video I would guess with the late arrivals the club maybe haven't had time to sort it.
Either way, nice to be back watching live basketball again. I'm sure the show will improve!

Trust me guys, when it comes to game day presentation you have NOTHING to complain about.
Pre game video and faulty scoreboard? We don't even have a screen to show a video on ffs, and we haven't had a scoreboard that showed personal fouls for years!!
If you want a good laugh, head down to Ponds Forge next time we have a home game, you'll never say a word in anger about your home court ever again.

The only thing we have to hang our hat on. Still the best game day commentator I've heard in this country.

I still remember Shafty doing the commentary for the eagles games when we played at the metro radio arena.

Shafty was good but Pete Jacques was the best. They also had a gullible metro radio DJ who read out a message for a Scottie Pippin to meet a Dennis Rodman in the foyer - priceless !
