Saw someone on here say this years Lions are less talented but more cohesive than last year
I thought at the time that was debatable, now I think they’re definitely better man for man this season, as well as far more of a unit
Really hope they can continue this into Europe

Went yesterday - London look great this year. Like Williams a lot. Game day stuff was not great but very small crowd (200)?
Still hoping for Spencer to come good

Could make either game this weekend - but the results look pretty great.
But the 200 crowd is a little bit worrying. The new owners defo have their work cut out and need to address it.
Jordan Spencer - It's still a little early in his career to say this - And I'm not sure if I entirely believe it myself - But can't help think, he's done. A mix of one season wonder, lack of confidence, injuries and lack of meaningful minutes means I'm not sure we will see the best of him again. Also playing on a deep team with stars is never going to help him.
The only way I see him coming out of it is moving to a team where he can be more of a focal point and get minutes in important parts of the game.

Seems to have worked for Jordan Williams

I'd probably double that 200, I'd say it was closer to 400 but that's still appalling.
But with costs at £77.00 for a family of 4 for decent tickets or £27.50 for an adult it's not conducive to attracting fans. I know you can get tickets at the end cheaper but you are quite a long way away from the action in those seats.
There's no Groupon deals, so it's pay these prices or don't go!
Lions sold tickets for £5 for the womens game before the mens bit I'm not sure they bothered to tell anyone!
I get the impression that 777 are not overly worried about crowd sizes & therefore I presume they're not interested in any sponsorship. Fans & general interaction seem fairly un-important to them.
Tickets for European games have just been launched, same price as normal game day tickets, we'll see how that goes down. No discounts or early availability to season ticket holders.

Flyers will probably think they threw this one away, for much of the game they out fought & out played Lions. Their movement of the ball & movent of their players was better than Lions & they conbasketball kited under the basket. However Lions have players who can win even when their team mates are not playing well. Dirk set it alight, keeping Lions in the game offensively for a decent period of the game. Andre came on & his heart, spirit & bloodymindedness along with Josh & Chris energised a very lackluster Lions performance. Andre was possibly our best defender inside, up to the half, which rather tells you what a mess everyone else was making of it.
Lions still have issues but also have some quality. Reese is proving a very good signing & when he & Justin are on court, BBL teams will struggle to defend them. Washburn was anonymous in the 1st half but did step up as the game went on and was certainly helpful in obtaining the win. Dirk was outstanding offensively, pretty much unstoppable for parts of the game. Kelley is a defensive liability at present, his positioning & footwork on defence are poor. Perhaps at college he only had to block 2-3 shots per game to get the plaudits but at 7'1" he should be stopping people taking shots not swatting away the occasional one. Cucini shot the lights out in our European game, but he missed 2or3 3's against Flyers and then stopped shooting, there's no point having a 3 point specialist if he doesn't shoot! It's good to see Josh getting decent minutes, he's an excellent player to come off the bench. Jordan Williams looked good on Friday & looked poor on Sunday.
Europe will prove a struggle unless everyone is on top of their game, particularly all the big men who have to play far better than they have so far. If they are on top of their game, then this week's game could prove to be interesting.

Well, that's super worrying imo. No club can thrive or survive without fans in the long run because owners with deep pockets eventually get bored and move on. Fans are crucial to every club - in fact, they are the lifeblood. Clubs should be doing everything they can to attract back fans who are reluctant to go to venues because of Covid but also try to attract new ones with advertising, social media and special offers on tickets. £27.50 may be a special price (i.e. unique to the BBL) but it's insane!

It amazes me that no one within the organisation seems to compute that if they dropped the tickets to £10 or £15 (even if just for a couple of seasons) and did some good marketing they'd actually make more money than sticking with the £27.50 a ticket price - both short term (game day ticket revenue) and long term (merchandise, repeat custom, sponsorship, etc.). As for the European games... I remember Riders struggled to get decent crowds to their mid-week games, and they certainly weren't charging £27.50 a ticket. And neither were they competing for custom in a city the size of London. I'm only expecting a couple of hundred in the crowd for what should be a massive event for british basketball, which is a shame.
