The leagues quality has improved immensely since the days of Eagles dominance under Fab and our recruitment hasn't been great this season. I don't think Coach can take too much stick for it. We aren't going to get god tier Fletch and Defoe performances to dig us out of the poop every game. We probably are a 50% team this year and our record reflects that. Hopefully we can make a push for the Trophy (unlikely since we drew Lions) or playoffs.

Whilst I do agree the league has changed and the quality I still stand by the need for change at the helm unfortunately. Whilst I understand comparing Ian to Fab is difficult since Fab was the british basketball equivalent of Sir Alex Ferguson. Looking at the pieces we got, to which we have some talented players as displayed in our victory over London. I really I don't understand why we can't get this team working. If we can't hit a barn door what are we doing all week in practice? And when your losing through the team looking clueless it's a worrying sign. Last nights against Leicester we looked like we stopped competing after they woke up in the 3rd as if we couldn't be bothered as a team. Huge lack of passion.

How many of our squad would get significant minutes at Riders or Lions though? Corey Johnson off the bench maybe, but would he really get minutes over Cugini or Whelan/Jackson, and Fletch as backup PG over Washington (definitely) or Robinson (maybe). I wonder how much of a hit to our budget loosing Esh as main sponsor was and how much the long term effects of Covid have hit. This squad isn't a patch on the last two seasons. Add to that loosing Matt Scott late and not being able to replace him adequately.

I missed last nights game as I went to watch a remake of the original Space Jam film, Unbelievably it had Newcastle Eagles staring in it, They had all their powers taken from them in the first quarter, But unlike in the original they never got them back....... It was a crap ending to the film......Unless you were cheering for the Monstars

Nice to see Defoe not getting away with his antics this week Isn’t he called for more fouls than any other player?

I understand last night Mo Walker was tough to guard but their seems to he running theme of him getting into early foul trouble and being forced to sit down.

It’s a tough time for Eagles fans, but there’s always the Ashes - oh wait…

Corey Johnson started alongside and at times ahead of Zack Jackson last year. And they won the league.

If we can't hit a barn door what are we doing all week in practice? I had heard that Steph Curry practices with a cat flap.

Eagles seem to be under-achieving despite what looks like a reasonable roster. Dan Routledge & Lasker on the Sky commentary made the good point that whenever Fletcher was subbed out for a rest the team was less effective. I've always really admired him as a PG who is so creative, hardworking and consistent. I didn't agree with Vince Macauley that he deserved league MVP over Crandall last year BUT he must have run him pretty close. Perhaps a change in the back court personnel would rectify that weakness because Fletcher can't be expected to play nearly 40 minutes every game. Person Jr may need to give way for a more effective guard.

But to be honest Massive Riders Fan isn't wrong. I feel like we could have gotten that win off the Lions having a bad day at the office as something didn't look right with them when they faced us. As much as I would like to hope we can do the same to them next month in the Trophy I imagine London will be dammed to let us do the same again. And probably with vengeance in mind as well.
