Not BBL related but I've put it in this board for now.
Does anyone on the forum watch basketball related films? I've seen quite a few including
- Coach Carter - The Basketball Diaries - Space Jam - Glory Road - White Men Can't Jump - He Got Game - Hurricane Season - Best Shot
There may be a couple others that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Does anyone recommend any others? What's your favourite basketball film?

More than a Game - which is a 2008 American documentary film that follows LeBron James and four of his teammates through the trials and tribulations of High School basketball in Akron, Ohio, and James's journey to fame.
It is a fantastic watch.

If you look at that film closely, LeBron's high school come up against a player called Marcel Jones. It shows him scoring and running back on D as the commentator talks and mentions his name.
Marcel Jones went on to play for Everton Tigers.
Random fact of the day.

Search youtube hard enough and you will find the full film for free He got game also brilliant Here's an incredible fact Akron is a small town in US yet both Lebron James and Steph Curry were born in the same maternity ward there Spooky!

Really enjoyed He Got Game. A lot of the basketball films out there are fairly typical storylines with not much depth, but enjoyable nonetheless

There's also a very good film/documentary that follows two or three US kids as they aim to make NBA draft. From 80s I think?
That's on youtube but forget the name?

Here's a link for 35 basketball documentaries to watch with reviews. I also highly recommend ANY 30 for 30 documentary on any sport. Lots of basketball ones were made. www.basketballforcoaches.com/35-best-basketball-documentaries/

Love and Basketball. A romcom that an ex-girlfriend got for me on Valentine's a few moons ago. Would recommend if that's you're thing, it's not mine. Omar Epps is pretty good in it though.

The revelation that you've managed to convince more than one female to become your girlfriend shocks and impresses me at the same time.

I highly recommend a documentary about the final days of the ABA, a really good look at how teams would try to outdo each other in an attempt to be accepted into the NBA. It also delves in the 1970s marketing techniques and discovers the history of the Alley-oop play. It's called Semi-Pro.

Gonk, any chance you could make this a sticky. I know that when I get round to having some time to look through these I won't be able to find the thread!

Hoosiers is by far the best basketball film I've seen.
But he got game, glory days, coach carter and blue chips are all up there.
It's hard to find a bad 30 for 30 documentary. My favourites are the one on the Fab Five, Jordan Rides the Bus, Once Brothers and the one about the bad boys.
It may be almost 3 hours but hoop dreams does make you realise how much college and high school players are used and spat out!
Happy watching!
