As a newbie to posting (I have lurked for a little while) I thought I'd better introduce myself.
I've been a Basketball fan since around the age of 11, I'm now 36. As Charles Barkley was my favourite player growing up, I've been stuck with Phoenix Suns as my NBA team unfortunately.
I'm more of a European fan these days. The Euroleague, Euro Cup and the Spanish ACB being my favourite competitions. I regularly attend the Euroleague Final Four's. Though I didn't make it this year to Istanbul. Real Madrid is my favourite European team and Llull my favourite player. Thought I deserved a good European team with being stuck with Phoenix as my NBA team!
After many years of saying I would give British basketball a chance, I finally took the plunge at the start of the 2011-2012 season. The Newcastle Eagles is my team, not being a glory hunter, I'm from the Newcastle area. Must admit, winning trophies does help!
For all the BBL's faults I really enjoy attending games. Can't beat live basketball at any level. The BBL and the Eagles has become a pretty big part of my life, supporting the Eagles is now one of my main hobbies.

Hi all.
As someone who has been a Newcastle United fan for 50 years, and has become thoroughly disillusioned with todays game, I thought I'd go along and see what this basketball lark was all about.
To be fair, every time i've seen the sport on tv it looks the most boring game on earth, you score, we score etc. I was very surprised to see that, in the flesh, it's superb! Now myself and my wife are becoming addicts.
Anyway, just to say hello and expect me to be asking all sorts of stupid questions, starting with why bbl.org.uk is so bad at displaying...well...anything?

Hi all. Bristol Flyers fan and season ticket holder. Only started watching (again) in January 2017, with my son, but love every minute of it. It is certainly a rollercoaster ride watching the Flyers.

Evening all,
Another lurker taking the plunge! Watched a lot of Basketball a few years ago at Worthing Thunder and the Guildford Heat (loved the days at the Spectrum, not so keen now at the change of name and venue)
Started watching again with the Solent Kestrels and enjoying my return. So likely to post on the NBL stuff although am planning a trip to Guildford in the New Year.

Im a sharks fan who basically agrees with the others that Atiba has to go
I played for the U18 Prem side this past season, coached by Todd Cauthorn, and for Sheffield College in the ABL, played against some of the BBL's younger talents such as Max Jones of Cheshire and Themba Yabantu of Newcastle. Hopefully the sharks can pick it up and make the playoffs but cant see them getting past leicester.

Dont get me wrong, I like atiba, met him in person multiple times and he has given me advice on my game, and i honestly never thought I would be calling for him to go, but it just seems that with the recent lack of form, its going to take a big turnaround in the playoffs for me to believe in him and the rest of the team for that matter, as it seems like the whole team has fallen apart, not just atiba, remember watching us in pre season thiking that we were going to have a good year in how good the team looks, now we are destined for 8th, we need a repeat of the 2015 playoffs where we beat leicester in the first round, and yes, I do hate BBL refs 😂 |

Attended my first Phoenix game as a 4 year old back in the glory days of the Northgate and have been hooked for the next 20 + plus years.
Look forward to sharing my limited and slightly biased knowledge on basketball

Great rate of £192 per hour as agreed with our clients for sitting here mulling over basketball matters. Cant sniff at that.... |
