There will invariably be larger events that require their own thread. For everything else, this....

Got let away early from work, I'm still thawing out.
Might not need to go in tomorrow, just need to wait and see, a lot of places near me had already closed.

When I saw the opening post I wondered how long it would take until someone mentioned the weather! Lol
I didn't want to be the first.

Fancy myself as an adopted Rocks fan anyway so want to make sure my northern brethren are alright. Some of us have a lot in common - unfancied underdog, fierce loyalty, want separation from England - whats not to love?

Surely mentioning basketball you have gone “ off topic”?

Surely asking if something is off topic in an off topic thread, the question is actually on topic, even if the subject of the thread is off topic?

Spare a thought for those of us who are expected in regardless of the weather! Generally, folks are always pleased to see me😗. Today I witnessed stupidity of breath taking proportions. No not the numpties who drove with 6 inches of snow on the bonnet and roof of their cars. I had a job that involved driving a large van down a hill. A quick shufty and I knew snow upon ice equals find another way. Which I did. While working at the bottom of said hill, three cars came down it. First one took out a parked car. Second one took out the first one. The third one managed to miss everything on the hill but wrecked an innocent at the t junction. Shortly after that a car came around the bend on the road at the bottom of the hill and spun smashing into an island and give way sign. End result lots of bent metal and two closed roads. When a police officer asked the driver of the last car how fast was he going the reply was 30 mph. On a downhill off camber bend covered in ice. When the officer suggested he should have adjusted his speed to the conditions he replied, " but I have never driven in snow". Poor officer was then berated by a driver who was blocked by the newly closed road. " Instead of just standing there, why don't you sort this out". Our brave, frozen public servant calmly explained that on a normal day his force would deal with about 20 traffic accidents. It was now 1030am and they had already sailed past the 200 mark. Massive respect to the constable when dealing with stupidity on so many levels.

My 17 year old daughters school sent a message out at 7.30am to say school closed
Meanwhile my 14 year old sons school has stayed open
Imagine the scene as he's waiting for the text that never came whilst she goes back to bed!
Lol

Driving home at 4am in the morning, up the A19 from Teeside to Tyneside. Average speed 15 to 30 mph. High winds, drifting snow. no road markings ... But my biggest concern is the F...ing Idiots driving around me ... Very scary
