This should be a great game. Lions have the opportunity to win their second title this season, which would make franchise history. Maybe their biggest game to date? I hope, and think, they’ll do it. But this will be a tough game. A very tough game. Having been to the first time these two met back in December it’s clear they’ve both got determination to show the other one they’re the better team… from same city rivalry to bragging rights between old friends.
As for Royals, with their roster they should be better than they are. And they’re already pretty damn good right now. If they’re going to do this they need to stop playing as individuals as much as they do and play more as a team. Having said that, for a new team in their inaugural season I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like them before. Maybe someone better at stats can confirm this, but are Royals the first team ever to reach a BBL title final in their inaugural BBL season? And surely they must be the first team to ever reach a BBL title final in their inaugural season of existence?

Royals have a team of talented players, but they can't seem to play as a unit. However, Lions have a team of talented players that can play as a unit. Hence, I can't see past Lions for the Vase ... but I have been wrong before

I'm not sure it's as easy as who's playing more as a team or who's better at the moment. Many of the players on the two teams know each other very well, they scrimmage together over the summer. The intensity from those guys in particular will be immense, they will be desperate to get the bragging rights.
Both teams are very experienced so the pressure of the situation shouldn't be an issue but overall composure will be key & if the Scottish crowd get behind one particular team then that could swing the final result.
This could be an outstanding game full of passion & aggression but I'd be happy if we simply destroyed the opposition and the game like the cup final.

Probably unsurprisingly, I agree with all of that. As I alluded to in my earlier post, lots of these guys are Londoners through and through, they grew up playing the game together, there’s pride on the line here. It was great seeing them play each other for the first time at the Copper Box a few months ago. I’m expecting some Scottish fans to hope they somehow both lose(!), but putting aside this is a London derby in Glasgow, this game wil feature some of the best British talent the game has to offer playing each other on the same court. This could be an excellent game. Having said all that, like you, I’d be quite happy with a 20+ victory.

Interesting side note – the last London derby in a final was Towers v Leopards in 1997, and Towers won by a single point.

Watching one of the recent livebasketball games featuring Lions and the commentators were talking about the upcoming final. One of them referred to it as the hottest ticket in town at the moment, thought that was a bit hopeful. Suspect it couldn't be colder if the tickets were stored in a freezer. Can't see many too many London fans from either club making the trip, and not many locals going either. Mind you it's probably time Glasgow basketball, fans saw a good close final game!!

Hottest ticket in town…? Just a shame that town is Glasgow! That’s not me moaning about the game happening in Glasgow, I’m just saying tickets would be undoubtedly ‘hotter’ if the game were in London. But a quick look on the Ticketmaster website this morning and the Trophy Final tickets are now listed as ‘limited availability’… so perhaps the game won’t be a poorly attended as we’re suggesting. Hopefully we’ll have a great game for those attending north of the border and for those watching on the BBC Red Button. On paper it’s certainly an exciting fixture.

Riders are showing the two finals in their building, it's a shame neither London club have the ability to do this. That's the trouble with not owning your own arena!

Well given that its in Glasgow, I think Lions should pull out and give their place to Rocks (seems fair to me ). ...maybe Royals could pull out as well !! ... then ... Rocks could just pass the ball around for 2 hours, scoring occasionally. Its the only idea I Have to get local bums on seats ... Question is, could Rocks win a final playing against themselves ? I'm not so sure, toss of a coin really

LT ... I hope your right ...Just don't get me started on that shower of sh1te Ticketmaster though Really? I actually prefer Ticketmaster to the likes of SeeTickets and The Ticket Factory. Comparing these 3 when booking my tickets for the All-Stars Championship, Ticketmaster was the only one that let me select my actual seats.

Genuinely excited for this one. Think it will be one hell of a game. Local rivals, two in form teams both looking to make a bit of history (lions for the sweep, royals to bag a trophy in their first year), plus a lot of high level brits on show. What’s not to love?

No Bristol for Lions today due to injury apparently ... bit of a blow for Lions.

So far Lions showing much more composure with Royals not posing a threat from the 3 point line. Great game - really enjoying it.

Lions 38 - 36 Royals at the half. Yeah, great game so far... Lions have the edge, bit it’s a close game.

Lions holding Royals to the last seconds on the shot clock on every possession but they've still been making them. Will they be able to keep that up?
