On a side note, if the Americans couldn't play as they had the wrong visas, what was happening in all the games they did play, did they not have the correct visa then either? Wondered myself about this - Was it definitely the visa issue? I must have missed the announcement but did find it fishy that neither were there.

On the TV commentary, it was said that Washpun was missing due to a visa issue and that Much had left the club. And yes, both played in both legs of the Semi against Rocks.

That was a completely draining weekend - one of the most tense and involved sporting events I can remember, coupled with 18 hours on the road - hence not managing to put down any words on it until now. I'm still not sure there's really too much I can analyze. The game went down to such fine margins; MBA was just unstoppable in the second half but if Bristol had been available we'd have got the extra stop we needed. The players on both sides left everything out there on the court and you could see just how much the Lions were hurting afterward, knowing they had it in their grasp. Joe's 3 would have been perfect to win it. Robinson looked like he was caught between providing help on MBA and guarding Lucas, and that allowed him to get the shot to send it to overtime. (Before the questionable play of trying to get a shot off from the inbound with 0.2 on the clock instead of attempting a tip-in.) That was the sucker-punch but Lions still managed to come back from 8 points down with another 3 from Joe and a turnover. The BBC coverage missed it while showing a replay of the turnover but I couldn't understand Peel taking the 3 with Spencer free next to him, which we needed to tie it. And with that, the game was gone. I've seen saintpat single out Andre Lockhart for praise and I echo that. He's been Mr Cup Final this season. In his fourth season, he just seems to get better and more reliable. If there's one thing I'd analyze it's that we have to look at what's going on with the Lions' 3-point shooting in finals. In the Trophy Final it was 9-39 (23%) - Robinson/Spencer 5-22 (23%). In the Cup Final it was 3-26 (11%) - Robinson/Spencer 2-17 (12%). In the 2018 Play-off Final it was 2/19 (11%) - Robinson/Thompson 0-7. Even if you go back to the 2015 Play-off Final Vince coached it was only 27%, and 16% if you exclude Drew Sullivan's stats. I've questioned at times how much Lions live by the 3-point shooting of Robinson and Spencer. Lions were massive in the paint in Birmingham and that won us a Cup, but obviously in Glasgow there was no Bristol and there was MBA on the opposition. It could easily have gone the other way and credit to the Royals for coming up big when it mattered, but that's not to say there isn't something to take from this game into further title-deciding games, hopefully, this season.
