Looking like Royals now have the edge... this could go either way in the final quarter.

What a shot! Kept his cool, nothing but net, this deserves OT for that

Watching this final makes you realise we could play both of these London teams 50 times and we'd lose 51 times. Zero chance.

72 - 72 end of regulation time ... Overtime time ...Definitely more entertaining than the Cup Final

Glad Royals won. Adds spice to the league. Felt Lions had it in the bag so often. No sweep for them.

Best game I’ve watched all season.
Both teams played hard today, slow start but just got better and better.
Royals take the trophy but the BBL got the win today.

Really good game, tense finish and well contested throughout. Great to see the level of passion and energy in some of the players (like MBA).
Also fantastic to see a top quality game getting onto the BBC/red button. They’ve been very unlucky with some of the games shown in the past, but this was a real advert for the league, on one of the better opportunities to showpiece it.

Very close game. Looked great on tv. Great crowd and some super basketball. Nice to see some faces from the past. Vince putting in 30 years. Junior williams and Nhamo Shire nearly the same and Amaning i recall as a 15 year old at Brixton. Also saw Andrea and Laurent so quite a day for London basketball. Great to watch and overtime always makes it extra special. Well done all.

Very entertaining. So much better than the Cup Final blowout.
Great for Royals to have garnered a Trophy. But everything smacks of another Mersey situation. The numbers just don't seem to add up. I don't see any shirt/courtside sponsors and I don't see a hell of a lot of spectators either. Someone must have very deep pockets...
It's nice that this year's comps will be split, but are Royals sustainable...

It’s amazing the the work the BBL has done on the Trophy. When I started watching the BBL in 2010 the Trophy was just a glorified pre-season competition. It’s now giving us the best BBL games.

For those interested, there’s a replay of the game this afternoon at 16:30 on FreeSports. And of course it’s available on BBC iPlayer.

Just to recap - 29 of us out of 34 were wrong in presuming Lions would win.

Just to recap - 29 of us out of 34 were wrong in presuming Lions would win. Let’s not been too hard on ourselves, all the bookies had Lions as favourites to win too (and my wallet is a little lighter today because of it).

Just to recap - 29 of us out of 34 were wrong in presuming Lions would win. But 34 of us didn't know Bristol was going to be unavailable. I'm not using that as an excuse of why we lost, teams have injuries, you have to get through them but I think out of the 34 who voted, a fair few may have changed their vote if they'd known. And before anyone comes back with the fact that Royals were without 2 imports so that negates the decision making- did anyone actually have a clue what the final line-up for Royals was likely to be? On a side note, if the Americans couldn't play as they had the wrong visas, what was happening in all the games they did play, did they not have the correct visa then either?
