League positions as well they've got progressively worse since he joined as well.
I mean in a big Achara fan but he hasn't done enough for the club to retire his Jersey

Agree with Mr T to be honest.
In terms of Scottish basketball yeah, probably up there with Archibald in the top two.
In terms of Rocks? No chance.

Its just IRF opening his mouth and letting his belly rumble. The usual. Kieron hasn't been with the Rocks for long enough to retire said jersey. Only a handful of years.

If Murray retires then aye, retire his. Achara? Great player, but not really part of the furniture.

Really??? After 4 years with no trophies youd retire his Jersey? It's not his fault the coaches he's had in his time here weren't exactly too great. He's probably been one of the Rocks best players. Definitely one of the best Scottish players, if not the best.

I’ve heard Zak Wells is also retiring at the end of this season.

He’s took some stick this season over his suspected influence on the recruitment and coaching.
Looks like the new coach favours the imports and they seem to be coming together a bit better - was the issue the timing (coming in too late and taking time to adjust?) the coaching or are they really not the right guys?
I think Kieron Achara has had great moments, even great games but without a trophy, disappointing finals / playoff performances and currently in the bottom half of the table I don’t think it’s jersey retiring material.
What comes next will probably tell more about how good he was for the team.
Will a big player come in who lifts and improves everyone or will he leave a hole the Rocks struggle to fill?

I’ve heard Zak Wells is also retiring at the end of this season. Frankly, I thought he'd already done that - makes no impact when he plays so may as well jack it in.

Definitely one of the best Scottish players, if not the best. I guess it depends on why you're retiring his jersey. If it's for services to Rocks, four years isn't really long enough. If it's for what he's done for Scottish basketball, surely that's up to Basketball Scotland? Rocks & BS have always had an iffy relationship.

We aren't retiring his jersey - that was IRF's misguided suggestion. To me he hasn't been a Rock for long enough. Agree that BasketBall Scotland should do something - but as they are only marginally better than Basketball England I don't know if they will.

Very interesting thread.
I personally wouldn't, but wouldnt be suprised if he is duncans first induction considering he is involved in the trust.
Id more likely retire murrays vest. Rocks players first and worked hard from the start. He needed his time away to grow and so did the club.
Back to achara we got to a number of finals with him and we've not won at all. He has hit some massive shots but never got us the win

Also Achara has been an amazing servant to British basketball. He’s had a very impressive basketball career and by all accounts is a great guy. I’m sure rocks will miss him on and off the floor.

Seems like a good time for both Achaea and Rocks. Gives the new coach a clean slate to choose the direction rocks take. I hope Achara stays involved in some degree.

Yeah he has - no two ways about it and yeah I guess rocks will miss him. He's been a good influence and had some big games since he's been there. But retiring his jersey is too far for me. As for Wells, I'm not going there again. If people can't see what he does, I'm not going to waste my energy explaining again.

Retiring numbers is just sad - and in British Basketball? Don't make me laugh Certain players spring to mind that do deserve it - I think by the time they're done nobody will wear Fabs number at Newcastle, or maybe even Defoes. The key is longevity and success. If you have a good mixture of both nobody can complain. I'd argue Achara doesn't fit that category for rocks. That said I think a testimonial akin to what Leicester did for a few of their guys would be fitting - class gesture that.
