Wow, delighted I didn't watch it & just checked in 3-4 times to see the score. Congrats to Riders & Rob in particular, he is the best coach in the league at getting in the opposition's faces & grinding them down with intensive defence. Royals without Washpun are a street ball team who win games if the opposition are not conbasketball kited enough to stop their one on one play. I don't know which is worse, having IRF being arrogant on here as Riders have won or if Royals had won & having MBA being arrogant on court!! Well we certainly won't know any time soon! Of course IRF doesn't have too much to be arrogant about this season, 2nd in the league and only in 1 final, which of course they have won, but of course that won't stop him telling everyone how wonderful Riders are!! I can't quite believe he wants everyone back, they weren't good enough over the whole season, I'm sure Rob will be making some changes. Albeit true that Lions were the best team in the league this season bar none and no one could argue otherwise, don’t underestimate how much the stab at Europe took out of Riders early doors. Took us a long time to recover from that for varying reasons. Not an excuse in any ways, just fact. Lions were the top team this season... will they be carrying the BBL baton next year? I sincerely hope so.

Will Jay Williams be the Royals coach next season? I will admit i haven't watched a lot of Royals but when i have seen them they seem to rely on individual talent rather than cohesive team basketball. They were crap today. Could a different coach get more out of this roster? Assuming the core returns next season of course. Did he coach them this year? I mean I know he was there but did he coach?

In the third period he called two timeouts early on to try and stem the tide of riders points So he at least TRIED to coach Clearly it made no difference but he was at least aware something needed to change!!

I can imagine his training sessions of lay up lines, long 3s and Instagram.

Not sure I quite get all the criticism of Junior. It's his first year as head coach at this level, he's got a team with some big personalities & bigger egos!! He's had a turn over of players to rival any other club in recent seasons. He's lost players because of permit issues & for whatever reason the one player who could have brought some order & team play to his team was missing from the final. And for all the British talent, he's missing a real 3 point threat.
It was always going to be difficult for him, he's mates with many of the team, he's known them for years, it's going to be very difficult for him to assert real authority over them & I doubt he's had much control over recruitment.
It would be difficult for an experienced coach to control the team Royals have put together, as a rookie head coach I think he's done a decent job.
I hear rumours that Royals are ready to splash the cash on players next season too, it will be interesting to see if they decide to do that on a coach as well or if they give Junior time to build his experience & reputation.

Oh, I don't know about that. Riders wiping the floor with a team that many tipped to win makes it a rather good final.

Just so were clear on who tipped who to win, I voted royals, not to win but who I wanted to win. Just so that I could annoy IRF

We've ended the season on a high We need to get back to winning the league as first priority again now though I'm hoping Europe is now shelved for a while at least You must feel a bit better as well. Losing to the eventual winners?

Is Washpun likely to show up? I can see this being a Riders blowout if I'm honest. Equally, I can see Royals edging it. Problem Riders have is nobody knows just which Royals team is going to turn up. If they're in the mood this will be one hell of a game. You called it Bigz. I don't think there was any lack of desire from Royals but they were unable to score owing to great defensive work from Riders, especially in Q3 & 4. They committed too many fouls too easily all over the court which also contributed to their downfall. Importantly, Riders also got their three point shooting back after it went AWOL for the last few weeks.

Shame the season is ending really, just as Riders are getting in to top gear!
Think winning these play offs gives more pleasure than some of the others, as i really did not expect us to make the final , let alone win.
I have not felt so outnumbered at a ball game as i did at the start yesterday. The booing on free throws was as loud as i can remember. Made it even more pleasurable to silence the vast majority of the crowd, and to send a lot of them home early!

Looking back through the comments before yesterday’s game, still can’t work out why so many were so confident that Royals would Walk away with the W,
We had a full week to work on just one game and we went into the game with the best winning form in the league, Plus how often in recent years have Riders lost in a final, Not many that I can remember and I’ve been to them all.

Because Riders are always under rated on here and other teams over rated I would say. The difference in professionalism, discipline and coaching ability when able to prepare well for a one off game also comes into it. RoyLs coach had no answers. Vince had no answers last year. And Fab no answers the year before. Somewhere in the mix we also beat Raiders by 30 plus points in a final. Obviously their joint coaches had no idea how to respond either. All the opposition seem to play badly against us in the finals but we strangle them on defence and our focus and intensity isnt just turned on for this one game. It's been trained for all season.

We played some great basketball for 15 quarters too

Please tell me if I’m incorrect but is a 32 point win the biggest ever margin ever in playoff history.

It was all over as soon as Royals started without Washpun. Royals playing like the team Newcastle beat up by 50 back in October! Basically Riders have hardly had to do anything to win - it has been gifted to them. ......and the gifts keep coming.....

Douse getting 1 minute, guess he wont be back next year! Deng probably in the changing room demanding his money back! You csnt start Dusha and expect to win! That depends on whether Douse was re-taking his first year or this was his final year at Loughborough...

Incredible results from what has been a a very average and mediocre team for the last few years that never even gets close to having a league MVP in its squad. We are so very lucky that everybody plays crap against us when it really matters. Bring on next season already
