There's now a fairly decent chance of an NBL team being in the Semi Final

Perhaps they ought to have had Ovie there! I got criticised when we lost a game by a couple of points for saying we’d have won it if Soko had played... but tonight I’m not entirely convinced that would have been the case. We were well and truly outplayed tonight. Well done Solent, and best of luck going forward. I’d love to see an NBL team win the Trophy now!

There's now a fairly decent chance of an NBL team being in the Semi Final Guaranteed I would say, Solent will beat Manchester or Worthing (as much as I'd love to see us beat them, I can't see it happening this season.)

I like nbl teams getting a lucky win in these, love it more when they win comfortably against the current league champs

Can’t work out if this is more of a blessing or embarrassment to the BBL.
On one hand it might give them a kick up the arse and show them they’re not actually much better than (at least) the top tier of EBL
On the other, is the depth of British basketball longer than they get credit for?

No excuses, I wasn't there to watch but I'm absolutely embarrassed by that scoreline. And over the years, I've seen plenty of quite embarrassing Lions defeats but this is up there with the worst!
Mind you, it's quite funny seeing a Riders fan come on here to gloat considering their recent performances!!

So the signing of Ovie Soko was literally JUST for ticket sales and nothing else then. He doesn't play in Trophy, doesn't travel... What a waste.
Seems like his being part of the roster is more of a disruption.

Lots of disrespect to Lions.

Again no disrespect to solent
But this result underlines how much BBL has gone backwards since last season
Standard has dropped so much.

Daniel Routledge @dan_routledge · 10h Leaving aside the fact that TSK are undefeated so this result hasn't come from nowhere, if you judge it based on the team they beat I would say this is probaly top 3 upsets in a KO competition. The other two would be Palace in 95/96 and @ridersbball in 81/82 who both made Cup SF
So who goes back far enough to remember those 2 upsets?

Only travel when he can be bothered then. Didn't travel to Worcester. I dont think its a case of him not being bothered - just has better opportunities open to him. Its the BBL, if its a toss up between that or, for example, filming the coke adverts hes been doing recently, its a no brainer financially.

Was one of the other embarrassing Lions defeats a couple of seasons ago when we whipped you in the playoff final at the O2

The other two would be Palace in 95/96 and @ridersbball in 81/82 who both made Cup SF So who goes back far enough to remember those 2 upsets? Why are we leaving aside Solent are unbeaten? They're utterly dominant in D1. In their 15 games against D1 sides only one side has kept them inside double figures. I know that the BBL has a massive superiority complex when it comes to games against EBL sides but the there's been enough "upsets" in recent years to suggest that they're not that bigger a deal. Worthing & Leopards beat Tigers and Giants respectively despite struggling in D1. Thunder beat Scorchers last year, and we'd have beaten them when Jack was coaching if we hadn't been utterly screwed over in the final minutes. If the BBL hadn't done away with the guaranteed home advantage for non-BBL sides and invited the D1 top four rather than giving BBL teams walkovers against Scottish and Welsh opposition there would be more of these "shocks". But that may be why they're sticking with the current format.

Ovie was never going to be with us for the Wolves game, he already had a holiday booked. The game against Solent wasn't even scheduled when he signed, so it's quite likely he had something else committed to already. I doubt we would have won with Ovie playing anyway! Clearly the team didn't have a plan or enough commitment to get the win. I think they probably didn't go into the game with enough respect for Solent & got caught out for it, Ovie wouldn't have changed that!

Forget about whether he physically or individually would make a difference or not I said months ago I hope he signs for lions because of the disruption and distraction it brings to them. It's so disruptive to Lions. The fact is Lions have gone from being a serious league winning team and squad to just better than average with this decision. It's Micky mouse really. Last year they were so tough to beat week in week out This year they aren't - simple as that. They've gone backwards and soko becoming a focus and a distraction has meant that Lions have gone backwards not forwards. Having got in a position of strength they've not moved forwards. I predicted this would benefit the rest of us if he signed and was challenged when I did. Vince has taken his eye off the ball. Simple as that. Be honest Pat. What would you prefer? Last year's squad without soko at all ever. Or this year's squad with soko whenever he can be there? It's not even up for debate surely? It's amateur what Lions have done. Last year they were run like a professional club. This year they are reality tv entertainment in comparison. Let's be honest. It's not sokos fault. It's Vinces fault for thinking adding him to the squad could be a good idea. If it ain't broke don't fix it Am I wrong?

Sorry I know nothing about Solent, but surely there is a case for a south coast BBL team between them and Worthing ? The area already provides 3 Premiership teams and it wouldn’t be too big a move for any Royals survivors ??

What does being in BBL give solent they don't already have
I'm sure they sell lots of tickets and their fans must love watching them beat everyone
Why make life harder for themselves?
