I did think it was perfect timing. Annoyingly it looks quite good and I’m jealous.

Wow, looks very impressive. Great to see other clubs taking steps towards operating their own venues.
I genuinely don't know this, but is there a demand for such a large arena? Going from 750 to 4,500 is quite the leap. Would they better served going a little smaller? Sometimes an arena that is too big can be counterproductive, nothing worse than loads of empty seats.

Get what you're saying but you dont want to have to build again 10 years down the line

Build and they will come.
Believe between 4 and 5k should be the aim for any team

Regarding capacity, it’s built for the future. But also clearly built to accommodate more than just basketball. The promo video also shows the arena for theatre and concert configuration. And you’ll probably get more profitable bookings of you can boast 4000+ capacity rather than just, say, 2000.

Build and they will come. Believe between 4 and 5k should be the aim for any team That was my initial reaction when I saw that Eagles planned to build their new arena to a 3,000 capacity. I thought they maybe should've gone a little bigger. Since we moved in I think we've had 4/5 sellouts with many more games with empty seats dotted around, so I think they probably got it about spot on for the moment. This is with an already established fanbase in a 3,000 capacity venue at Sports Central so I guess they knew what expect. I must admit that I really like the size of the ECA as it all feels very intimate and like you are right on top of the action. I guess there is no right or wrong answer with this at the moment, I just found it interesting as both Eagles and Riders have built venues with a capacity of 3,000 or below. I think to go any higher than that it may take something big to happen for the league to explode in that way, so that we are filling bigger venues. If that does happen (I don't think it will) would it be easy for them to increase that capacity? I'm guessing probably not but I'm no expert. Is it likely that Bristol are going to be getting five times more people through the door than they are at the moment?

Eight years to produce a nice video. Sorry if I'm hard to impress.

Maybe Ron Scott is in charge of the build.

Basic supply and demand. It looks a fantastic facility. I just wander if it is too small.

I don't even like salt. To be fair, it's only seven (rather than eight) years since they joined the BBL with a two or three year plan to build a new arena. Seven years on they have a two or three year plan to build a new arena. For some reason they are cut a seemingly never ending amount of slack on that.

Yeah, cus every other team that have joined the BBL have done it way quicker. Not like it's part of a proposed £100m development. Bristol has a history of rejecting proposals that haven't had lots of initial consultations done first. Ashton Gate was improved years after the original Ashton Vale development hit hurdle after hurdle and the business have learnt from that process. Whose in the position to be cutting the slack anyway? I doubt they give a **** if you, me or anyone else here say "ugggh it's taking too long". Maybe they should just give up instead... Satisfied then?

Top class rant RSV, but I doubt Bristol is a noticeably tougher place to get planning permission in than anywhere else. It's an uncomfortable truth but the deal to get in the BBL was an arena with three years, so I can't get excited that seven years later we have a video. As Tony say, it's very Ron Scott. But as you say, the owner of Flyers don't have to give a toss whether I'm excited, so they don't have to give up.

I agree the ECA is the perfect intimate size for current crowds, but admit I was surprised only 10 rows in east stand when I first got there. The only logical future extension for the ECA would be to double the east stand to same depth as north and south, but not sure they’ve left enough room outside. Meanwhile go for it Flyers - the fans will come, especially from Southampton !

A nice video - and glad to see some signs of life from the project, which had been eerily silent for a while.
MVP includes a quote suggesting a public display of more detailed plans in late March, and a formal planning application in late summer. Would that allow enough time for planning approval and build completion for the 2022/2023 season?
