Oh yeah, and is the poll closed now, or can people just keep picking dependent on the latest series score - wish I could do that at the bookies and keep the original odds

I agree Solly. 4-1 seems the likeliest result but I hope not! It seems Bam most likely to return out of their two big injury issues and he should be chomping at not to have a crack at Davis.
Talking of Davis that game showed why he’s only ever destined to be a second wheel kind of guy. The real greats do not go missing in finals games. Ever!!

And so now the end is near and we face the final curtain...
Heat have done tremendously to over-achieve and get to the Finals, but disappointing that they now can't put up a better fight. But it's only Butler and Bam who can show any consistency.
Maybe its an age thing that means Herro only flits in and out of games and while Robinson can occasionally light up, we can see why he was at a Division 3 college. Both these guys are having to do more than should be expected of them.
And then we see Crowder having to play more than he should because Olynik is so limited.
Pat Riley is going to have to do deals in the close-season, but who has he got to trade?

I think you are underselling Herro and Robinson who both make excellent contributions. They are rookies though and make those mistakes that you can ill afford in the finals. In fact I would say that G1 excluded the Heat have put up one hell of a fight. They are a bit limited particularly without Dragic to create and score.
If the rookies continue to make progress (including Nunn) then another athletic big would help them out. I think they've got a moral victory by forcing the Lakers to their smaller line-up and consigning Howard and McGee to the bench!

Certainly think Herro has been a revelation in offence - great future ahead of him if he can play this well in the finals. Unafraid and plenty of confidence. His reverse left hander lay-up last night was brilliant and he made it look simple. Pulled out some big shots in clutch moments.

If Dragic were able to return then I think Lakers might be worried because Heat play better team ball I think. However, I suspect Davis will be back on form big time next game.

So. If Lakers take it in game 5 is LeBron guaranteed Finals MVP?
If Davis puts in a performance like game 1 and LeBron has an ‘ordinary’ game could Davis take it?
Just read that it’s a panel of 11 media people who vote on this - would they go against the PR machine that is LeBron even if Davis actually deserved it?

I don't think Davis does deserve it. Lebron makes the Lakers tick. Davis benefits from that and against this Heat team he should be able to get those numbers. I'm not a Lebron fan either but he is definitely their MVP

Does the MVP have to be from the winning team?

Only once has it not been. The Logo won it in a losing effort back in the 60s. Probably Iverson the only modern player to come close??

Mmmm?
Game 4 could have gone Heat's way. Though you always feel Lakers can step up when required which didnt happen in game 3.
I'd agree with Connors that its Lebrons for the reasons he stated. I struggle to understand how anyone cannot admire Lebron. His free throw shooting is not what it should be,he's not the best 3 point shooter, there are too many turnovers but if I was picking a team in the playground he'd be number 1 every time.
A.D. and Lebron are the obvious stars but don't ignore the supporting cast. Green, Morris, Howard, Caldwell-Pope, Kuzma, Rondo and Caruso have all made meaningful contributions.
It begs the question what would the supporting cast have been should Lakers have aquired Khawi? Would they have been a better or worse team?
Frank Vogel was much maligned by pundits when he was appointed coach. Thoughts now?
Maybe inappropriate to discuss next year whilst the title is undecided but take what we've seen in the bubble add Golden State and a Mets team with Kyrie and KD and its salivation time. Its time for Kyrie to deliver on court and contribute to a winning team rather than making headlines with his gob.
I still dont understand Kyrie and KD not playing as they were injury clear albeit not game sharp. No doubt Lebron would have played if in the same situation.

Lebron is a once in a generation talent no doubt (see below article) www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30062087/appreciate-absolutely-stunning-lebron-james-playoff-statsI'm not a fan personally. Something about him I don't like as much as certain other players. Its certainly not the way he can play. In relation to Kyrie and KD then I put a post in the NBA thread about their latest comments. Don't need a coach apparently? I'm generally a big fan of Durant. Love the way he plays. Kyrie is certainly an entertaining player. Both of them though went massively down in my estimation by refusing to join their team mates in the bubble.

Heat deserved to win the game. Morris fluffed his pass in the final seconds. Looked like he panicked. James and Butler both great but the latter edged the contest. Lakers are going to be sweating now with Davis carrying what looks like a significant injury. Momentum with Heat. Superb finals series.

Superb game. I think at one point JVG commented that when Lebron shoots 3s like that the other team usually lose.....nobody obviously told Jimmy. I thought Robinson was fantastic too. Let’s be honest Bam is clearly well below his physical best so these wins are even more amazing really.
Lakers are going to look at this game, where Lebron played so well, and see it as a huge missed opportunity. If Bam has a good game to compliment Butler and Robinson keeps shooting like this things could get really interesting. Particularly if AD crocked or slowed by injury.
Great, great game to watch.
I’m on the Jimmy Buckets bandwagon big time!!

Not just in basketball but in any team sport has there EVER been an individual player who wherever he goes can transform the fortunes of a team and bring almost guaranteed success so quickly as LeBron?
If there is I can't name them
I know people still debate whether he is GOAT in basketball
But I think he has to be considered for the GOAT in all team sports
It's absolutely incredible the impact he can have on any team he plays for

Last night James was superb and so was Davis BUT the reason they won so handsomely was the rest of the team stepping up in a way that they didn't last time out. Lakers' defence was incredible and Heat are a really good team, yet they couldn't perform in offence because they were smothered. Delighted Lakers won and James was playoffs MVP. Another fantastic statline triple double. He should have been league MVP as well. Surely that's clear now.
