I know there’s a few threads with a bit of discussion around Lion’s venture into European competition (amongst other things), but I thought I’d start a new one with (hopefully) everything people want to know and for us to discuss the games themselves. So here goes… In the Regular Season of the 2020/21 FIBA Europe Cup (commencing 26th January 2021) 6 groups of 4 teams play in a single round robin system in a number of ‘bubble’ venues across Europe. The 1st and 2nd placed teams from each group plus the 4 best 3rd placed teams advance to the Round of 16. The Round of 16 and Quarter-Finals (commencing 23rd and 25th March 2021 respectably) will be played in single elimination games in a single ‘bubble’ venue to be announced. The Final Four – featuring 3rd Place Paly-Off, the Semi Finals and the Final (commencing 23rd and 25th April 2021 respectably) will be played in single elimination games in a single ‘bubble’ venue to be announced. More info on the competition format here: www.fiba.basketball/europecup/20-21/competition-system.pdfAs for the London Lions games in the regular season, these are: Tuesday 26 January 2021 ANWIL v LONDON LIONS – 17:00 GMT www.fiba.basketball/europecup/20-21/game/0601/Anwil-London-Lions
Wednesday 27 January 2021 LONDON LIONS v FRIBOURG OLYMPIC – 20:00 GMT www.fiba.basketball/europecup/20-21/game/1301/London-Lions-Fribourg-Olympic
Friday 29 January 2021 DNIPRO v LONDON LIONS – 11:00 GMT www.fiba.basketball/europecup/20-21/game/2001/BC-Dnipro-London-Lions
Official website here: www.fiba.basketball/europecup/20-21
All games will be streamed for free on the FIBA YouTube channel, unless a deal is in place with a local broadcaster in any given territory. www.youtube.com/FIBA

It's good that someone is discussing it, because Lions seem to be completely ignoring it!! Content from Lions is shameful.

Its such a shame. Many clubs are making strides with some definitely well out ahead, but some seem like they cant be arsed. Should the BBL be stepping in? Is there a minimum standard that clubs are expected to adhere to? It's of mutual benefit to have regular engaging content.

What can you do to turn Basketball in this country into a serious player at Continental & World level?
It's shocking the lack of promotion this is getting from anyone outwith this forum. You should have pride in wanting to see teams do well, even if you think in your mind that there won't be a positive outcome.

I agree on Lions poor engagement some things that strike me with them which is odd now given their new ownership that will want a return on their investment are:-
No club kit sponsor this year so far? No merchandise at all for sale online? No regular updates on the website (nothing since last year) Only presence is Twitter? Somthing seems a real miss from a commercialisation/comms and engagement angle!?

Oh and EVERYTHING is in black and white

Lions have finally started promoting the European games on Twitter, but they’re referring to them as the Euro Cup, which is an entirely different competitive to the Europe Cup (Euro Cup is the sister competition to the Euroleague, Europe Cup is the sister competition to the Champions League). At least it something... even if that thing is wrong!

At least it something... even if that thing is wrong! Yep, I noticed that too, but I think many of the Twitter posts come from America, I doubt they have any knowledge of European basketball. But at least it was something, just a shame it took 2 days of requesting it to get something out there. If only the content had been remotely decent.

So facing teams from Poland, Switzerland & Ukraine
I don't know anything about those teams, although I've heard of other teams from 2 of the 3 nations (Poland & Ukraine) Zielona Gora from Poland & Budivelynk from Ukraine who were both in an NBA 2K game when European teams were in it but have silently been dropped.
As for Switzerland I only know of the Ice hockey team from Fribourg, Fribourg-Gottéron
