I find (at least) the timing of this completely baffling if I'm honest.
Your man there mentions "recent results" in the press release but has clearly failed to take account of the fact Giants have lost their two best players in recent weeks due to factors completely out of Dannys control (and I know that for a fact). Any team in this league relatively struggles without their two best players.
Secondly, Dans just signed one replacement who seems to be slotting in quite quickly and signed another who's not even had a chance to play yet. Whos to say any new coach will have wanted/signed them as replacements in the first place? I actually think Gerami will fit in well - hes a tough guy, but surely Dan should have been given a proper chance to work with the new players hes brought in?
It just smacks of an inexperienced 'owner' with an ego bigger than the north of England whos finest acheivement anywhere seems to be being a disqualified director knee jerking and doing what he sees football owners doing on a weekly basis and firing when a few results dont go his way - irrespective of the actual facts and of any potential ramifications.
Which coach worth their salt will want that gig? It wasnt a full time position, they have to work with a maniac in charge upstairs, and woe betide any injuries and a couple of losses because you'll be out on your backside. If he did it in the offseason last year Id have got it. If he did it this summer having failed to make playoffs Id have probably got it, but this is just amateurish.
Talks about building a culture, and it would seem his buzzword (because he speaks in nothing else lets face it) is 'delusion'. Go get that delusion culture, Mr. Excitement officer. Im with Pat on this - it isnt hard to imagine a world where he takes charge himself.

Wise words. I was referring to the disappearance of their best two players. Is it any wonder results slip when this happens? Why did they go? No due to Danny I’m sure. Something is very wrong.

My guess is Edwards will let the the interim coach take the fall when this, inevitably, goes wrong but will interfere in the coaching side of things in a way that DB probably wouldn't accept. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, it was only a matter of time before Edwards got himself involved in the playing side of the club.

Comes down to an owner with a God complex I think bud. Ive said before Im happy to judge him on his actions (because lets face it hes not good with words) and what he does from here will be key, but this decision at this time of the season without a scrap of evidence of forward planning (hes got the assistant in charge for this weekend at least) is a wild one.

Cheshire and Worcester have done crazy things marginally surpassed by Raiders. Rocks fans don’t seem too enamoured with their owner and now giants feel left out. There’s a few bouncers home and abroad furloughed so maybe follow Raiders path. These decesions do nothing for the credibility of the league!

But playing devils advocate- they are 3rd bottom in the league , out of the Trophy so any ambitious owner would want more surely?
Can’t have been happy with how the season is going.
If it was football he’d have gone weeks ago!

I’m going to trust Bigz inside knowledge on the giants scenario. In the last ten years Essex Pirates Worthing Thunder Durham Wildcats Leeds Force London City Royals have all left the BBL for different reasons. To call the running of some clubs amateurish would be a compliment. At times its pure soap opera. An 11 club league with limited chances for a club to join and succeed. Flyers relative success and the arena’s at Leicester and Newcastle being the highlights of the last ten years for me. You’d guess they’re the best run clubs nationally they just need a few more to sort themselves out to improve the league.

If it was football he’d have gone weeks ago! So why let him spend the money and recruit two players to sack him before ones even played? Just smacks of 0 planning and making knee jerk reactions.

Gregg Popovich on the dismissal of Lloyd Pierce from the Hawks.
‘There’s got to be leadership enough to understand that it takes time and continuity is important ...... A little more understanding about how a programme gets built for success over The long run would have served this situation well.

If it was football he’d have gone weeks ago! If it was football there’d be a vast pool of coaches available - most of them capable - to suit various combinations of team budget and wage structure. They could pluck a new coach from the managerial merry-go-round within days. Finding a decent coach for basketball in this country, under the conditions a BBL team works under, is fishing in a much smaller pond. Does seem an odd time to make such a decision, especially as there’s no hint that a replacement is imminent, and the recent downturn in results is likely down to personnel losses more than coaching issues.

There's no logic here. The decision to sack a coach just after he's been allowed to add players and the signing deadline has passed in baffling. But it's not a shock that Edwards won't let the coach get on with doing the job, it's clear that it's all about him. I did notice that he's now "Giants chief" rather than claiming he's the owner.

I’ve seen some bizarre terminations of coaches but the timing of this makes it one of the most incredulous. Traditionally BBL coach appointments tend to be either an experienced bbl coach or someone who has invested time into an organisation. Now giants have removed Danny and Zorick as coaches, one suspects the Jones clan emotionally, one wonders who the next coach could be. As notorious Bigz stated a part time role with a questionable boss isn’t the most appealing of positions.
My guess is it will be wonderfully left field.
