Is it just me really enjoying Dave F's insights into the games? Nope, Dave E had better watch out!
As for the game, I enjoyed the first half but what is it with this Eagles team and fourth quarter meltdowns? Fletch, Darius and Gordon were excellent, everyone else less so (much less so). As for Sharks, if they could defend as intensively for the whole game the way they did in the fourth quarter they would win a lot more games. All to play for in Worcester.

regret it or not - Thursday will answer that.
Having said that if it had remained a gap like 15pts - based on the games i'v seen these two teams this season, I would still say all to play for on Thursday as both seem to go so hot or cold and even turning round a 20pt game 1 deficit would not have been out of either teams capabilities.
So three of the 4 q/f are effectively one game shoot outs now - Riders game the exception as their D is just too consistent to let a side get that deficit back in 2nd leg

1st game. Eagles 68-53 Sheffield after 26 mins. Last 14 mins was 11-24 to Sharks.
Which teams will turn out tonight? Sheffield always stick around, but this Eagles team is SO inconsistent and it’s bench has got shorter and less productive as the season has progressed. Any result possible.

Fully agree with my fellow follicly challenged fan - we thought this would be Eddie's final breakthrough season but his minutes don't seem to have increased at all. Drew has played some superb minutes but doesn't seem to get many opportunities, and don't even get me started on Maxwell ! I'm afraid the long summer gameless wait for Eagles fans will start tonight, and with Darius surely considering a well deserved retirement, could Fletch be the only long term familiar face next season ?

Am I the only one experiencing terrible coverage online? Constant poor picture quality and dropouts but now I can not even watch it at all in Q3!

Why ever we were rushing the offence, up double figures with 5 mins to go I'll never know. Poor poor individual decisions

Sharks had the game and tie and played quite well for 3 and a half qs but fell apart at the end. The ball should have been in Helmsley or Ratinho's hands. Nicholls and especially Lillard made several awful decisions. Lillard just kept making stupid plays.
Feel bad for a few Sharks who played their hearts out but suns up a pretty average season really. The organisation will say we finish 5th and made the playoffs but we do not seem to be improving.
I know I have been critical of Lyons but it does need a fresh start for me. Just a new voice. I think the Sharks had a fair bitbof talent this year but were dreadfully inconsistent. A .500 record sums it up.
Today they actually gave it a good go but I just think overall it has been a disappointing year. Never in the hunt for honours at all. They had a few good games and a few good pieces in Helmsley and Ratings we would love to come back but expect the likes of Lewis, Koch and Jones to move on. Also I am not sure Nicholls and Lillard were consistent enough. We need some power and speed up top. Our bigs are woefully slow.
Sadly Sharks have this habit of rewarding mediocrity instead of striving for more. Yes money talks but we need to shake things up on and off the court for me.
I expect we will be here in a years time talking about another 4th-6th finish, another Lyons led squad and talk of the new arena coming soon...in 2056!
Great game though and credit to Newcastle. Leicester v London final I expect.

It’s a bloody good job that Ratinho Hail Mary didn’t go in (plus the timeout) or the cameras missed it completely!
Great advert for aggregate basketball.....

Lillard one on one aycwirh 2cstupid drives and then him fouling when there was no need. He had an awful final 3 mins. Get in Hemsley's hands every time!

Credit to Eagles they hung around and took the opportunity handed to them in the 4th. Gordon especially was a monster. Feel sorry for Hemsley, Ratinho and Nichols (9/9) - they didn't deserve to be on the losing team

Commiserations to Sharks fans - I was convinced it was us that would be ending our season tonight well into the last minute. Justin was awesome but my MVP has to be Maxwell - 19 points and +10 for his 22min on court - I'll have to criticise him more often !

Well, Newcastle squeaked home against this year’s bogey team but had to rely on poor decisions and execution by Sheffield in order to do so.
Can’t imagine that Leicester will be too frit of the Eagles but you never know. Both teams can be inconsistent.
For Eagles tonight, all you can say is that they came good at the end. And winning ugly is good. And Fletch will rarely shoot 2/12 from the field. Yes, Baldereagle, Maxwell was effective offensively once he stopped missing dunks, but other than against the least mobile bigs he really is useless defensively. Funnily enough might match up quite well against Mo Walker. Time will tell!
Credit to Sharks, and indeed generally to everyone bearing in mind we are watching competitive play-off games (on Sky!) after a completed season which could easily not have happened. A lot of players giving their all despite having had a weird year thousands of miles from home during lockdown. Whatever happens next week, I can’t wait to see games with fans next season.
