From 5th April to the 15th April 2018
I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that the players will go out for two weeks training before the games start, so that means they leave around 22nd March.
England start their games on April 5th
England squad so far: -
Jamell Anderson, FG La Roda (Spain) Darius Defoe, Newcastle Eagles Daniel Edozie, Bristol Flyers Zach Gachette, Sheffield Sharks Joe Ikhinmwin, London Lions Orlan Jackman, Cheshire Phoenix Callum Jones, Manchester Giants Andrew Lasker, Newcastle Eagles Raheem May-Thompson, Cheshire Phoenix Tayo Ogedengbe, Surrey Scorchers Josh Steel, Surrey Scorchers Andy Thomson, Leicester Riders Adam Thoseby, Sydney Kings (Australia) Mike Tuck, Sheffield Sharks Shane Walker, Leicester Riders Zak Wells, Plymouth Raiders Kai Williams, Newcastle Eagles
This will be cut down to a 12-man squad at the end of February 2018
Scotland start their games on April 5th
Final 12-man Squad
Kieron Achara Jonny Bunyan Bantu Burroughs Chris Cleary Ali Fraser Kyle Jimenez Gareth Murray (all above are from the Glasgow Rocks) Sean Nealon-Lino (Barking Abbey) Mike Vigor (Bristol Flyers) Callan Low (Myerscough) Nick Collins (St. Mirren) Fraser Malcolm (Black Hill State)

Nealon-lino sounds like a good name for a carpet fitter.

The original England 24 man squad also included the following players :-
Paul Guede, London Lions William Hall, London Lions Joe Hart, Unattached Kofi Josephs, Glasgow Rocks Ashton Khan, Worcester Wolves(since moved) Rob Marsden, Sheffield Sharks Connor Washington, FOG Naestved(DEN)
These players are not in the current group of 17 players listed for the next training camp, however :-
Basketball England’s Talent Development and Performance Manager Vladan Dragosavac said, “Moving from 23 players to 17 is by no means a narrowing down in the selection process. Players who aren’t on the list for February’s camp aren’t in any way excluded from final selection and we will continue to consider and observe every eligible player available between now and the end of February. This is just another step in the evaluation process of what remains a wide pool of very talented players as we seek to find the best 12 to take to the Commonwealth Games next April.”

Anyone know whether we’ll actually be able to watch the games? Who is the broadcaster- the BBC? If so we might get every game online via the BBC Sport website and iPlayer...

What are the actual dates that the players will not be available for their clubs. Probably have a key game against Flyers in that time!

Have they said anything about the women's team? I think I saw a squad list a while back but it was basically just a TeamGB copy and paste. I'm unconvinced that the players playing in mainland Europe will be leaving their paying gigs midseason for the CGs.

So potentially Devan, Orlan and Raheem miss games against Rocks(2nd team) Scorchers and Flyers. If they choose to go and we’re stupid enough to release them I hope they never darken our door again!

In basketball terms it’s a Mikey mouse competition. The players have signed a contract maybe with a clause to go. Whatever there should be a commitment to us the fans. Losing to Flyers and Scorchers could mean missing out on a play off berth. Financial cost being? If clubs let them go they are also taking the piss out if us their fans. I certainly won’t go to a game if they go. No I will more likely not to go to a game when they come back.
It would also totally devalue our league. Orlan is our captain Raheem was end of bench when we took him on Devan pissed on us 3 years ago we take him back If they go it’s a massive insult to us. What loyalty is there? I get pissed off with rhetoric about what great fans we are then they choose to do this. Maybe? If we allow it more fool the clubs. Absolute f•••••g joke. Sorry about the language

Pretty sure it's against the law in any fiba league to not allow an international to leave on duty. Only the nba can prevent a player from leaving.

For most sportspeople being selected to represent their country is a career highlight, and a chance to test themselves in a higher level of competition, as the BBL sides, do not currently, play in the European competitions, it is totally understandable that the players invited want to take the opportunity to play on an international stage.
I feel it would be very wrong for any club to refuse a player, or coach, the chance to take part in what is one of the world's main multi sport events. Yes clubs may be affected, many clubs much more than Cheshire are, so to blame the Games for your club missing the play offs is inaccurate, a 36% win rate in your BBL games, excluding Leeds, is the reason why Cheshire will miss the play offs again.

For Flyers we will potentially lose Edozie and Vigor - we are not a big side, and will be left with Lesley Smith and Brandon Boggs only. I think most teams will be disadvantaged, but Rocks obviously the most.
Can clubs bring in players on a temporary basis....is there a transfer deadline or similar?

I may be wrong but Cameroon and India is that a higher level of ball than BBL? Agreed about our league form not good enough but the games could be the difference between making or not. Commonwealth games one of he worlds main sporting events? Seriously! We are their employers. Would they all go if there didn't get paid whilst away. Lets be frank its a jolly at the clubs expense.

Can’t believe what I’m reading. So you’d prefer devan, orlan and Raheem not to go? Are we devaluing playing for our cluntry that much? Should we expect these guys on below average wages to take a trip back To Worcester over an experience in the Gold Coast... come on now!!!!!
