Not that I’m particularly interested in the competition as previously stated a 3rd rate tournament but I am interested in how it impacts on the BBL.
I’m now more interested in what is the problem that results in 2 team selection announcement dates passing. Team meant to be going out March 22nd according to earlier posts.

There was a BBC story not long ago saying that if we did not commit to completing our GB basketball fixtures (due to lack of funds) that we would be thrown out of Commonwealth Games basketball
Maybe it's related to that?

I think the BBC story turned out to be false, despite there being evidence to suggest it could be true at the time.

Hearing there is some unrest in the camp/set up hence the delay in announcing squad officially The delay is down to a bit of trouble confirming the nationality of players on FIBA's registration system (as per Mark Woods). Happy to be corrected if this is not the case. |

If you are a British national like Drew, how is it decided whether you play for Scotland, England, or Wales? Is the correct term UK national, so we would include Northern Ireland?
Can you initially play for any of then, but have to stick with one?

Still no official announcement and I thought the team were supposed to fly out in seven days? Not leaving it that long to make arrangements although I suppose those arrangements will have already been made?
Players still wondering, actually I do know the players have been told, but perhaps a late spanner has been thrown in to the works? The silence is deafening! Although, again, I would imagine if your English by birth you'll pretty much have it nailed on that you're going if you've been told.
It is those "nationalised" players that may or may not have been selected where it appears the problem lies? Seems to me this should have been sorted. Rocks and Leicester seem to have made moves regarding players so they must be fairly convinced. London too? Although I think they've been looking to bring players in regardless of the Commonwealth situation.
Meanwhile one or two teams must be wondering and wondering and possibly preparing for the loss of players?
All a bit strange if you ask me!

All these issues just highlight my opinion that once we decided a GB team was the way forward we should've completely ended NT basketball for England, Wales and Scotland. The contradiction that were funding 3 teams in a third rate competition whole struggling to play at a proper international level is stunning.
But then it's questionable how much the home nations have bought into the GB concept

7 days before the roster is due to travel. One would think that players and clubs had been notified of the position and there waiting to confirm once all issues are sorted.

Lacks a quality point guard and a few of the forward slots are for me are suspect and undenaiably weak. Admitted should do ok considering the opposition and will be a great experience for all involved

Good point but didnt Rocks have the foresight with their fixtures and only having a few games while CG are on. All this could of been organised beforehand its not that CG were awarded last week |
