Really not a lot of guard options. Is it just Defoe from the rumoured 12 with Gilchrist coming in. Nice trip for all concerned. I’m guessing Drew would still be better than all selected there! What’s the Aussie like?
Still surprised that Washington wasn’t selected if he wanted to go

Judging by the comments from Walker & Thomson about being selected I think it's fair to say they are delighted. Both have expressed their pride at representing England and state how much they are looking forward to the whole experience. For once, it didn't seem like the usual 'over the moon' hackneyed stuff that players come out with and I wish them well.

Could be some useful experience for some of the younger players, but the virtually full-strength Aussie team will absolutely murder them. |

I just went on the basketball england website using that link to look at the squad and got a message that said if they don't get more "supporters" signed up to the website it will close down in May They only have 25 per cent of the supporters they need to afford to keep the website running Never ever had a message like that before on any website I've logged into Apologies if that's been mentioned elsewhere Regarding the squad. I will be disappointed if defoe plays matches for eagles whilst the squad he's had to invest pull out of is in Australia |

I don't know what Dave's target is, but if he's looking for a grand a month I think he'll be disappointed. Basketball fans are tight buggers and paying to use an internet site is an alien concept to the vast majority of the general population

There seemed to be an agreement to share the burden of missing players. Us and you had two players each missing. Which was fair enough. Now you've just got Lasker missing. |

What’s the view as to how this will impact on league positions.
Flyers look to be the most vulnerable. 2 games against Phoenix really could result in them losing a play off space
Phoenix lose Jackman which didn’t seem to hurt too much when he was injured. They also play rocks which you wou wouldn’t fancy them to get anything from if at full strength.
3 wins and it throws the play off race wide open

Im personally pleased for the club that Orlan and not Raheem was selected
4 wins behind Wolves and scorchers won’t be caught up on 9 games. Sorry we’ve no chance even with other teams being weakened

That is my point as there definitely seemed to be some kind of sharing out pact here with the way the England squad was chosen Now if you check my post I just said I would be disappointed if Defoe was involved when we play Eagles in what you agree will be a crucial game for the League at the end of this month With both teams two players down then fair enough. Now Eagles have just sent one to the games I'm saying that ain't fair enough. And being cynical I do expect he will be very much fit for that game somehow! Do I seriously expect him not to play against us in that crucial game. No I fully expect him to play. And that's why I'm saying now that I will be disappointed ! It's not a level playing field for us and Eagles any more with respect to the Commonwealth Games. Uptil last week it was going to be. Is the Commonwealth Games going to effect any other trophies. Not really the playoffs aren't going to be impacted in any significant way. Could the league title winners be impacted. They certainly could if Eagles now can play us with just Lasker missing Hersey if this happened against your team don't tell me you wouldn't have spotted it and you would have written your blog complaining (just in case)in advance already let's be honest! Listen - I realise Rocks and Flyers are badly impacted as well losing more players and a coach But I don't see how that will change their season like it could change ours. Their crucial games are after the CG squad come back. Maybe be our game with Eagles should wait til the players are back? I still expect to win the League regardless but I can't pretend ive not noticed this and the sports cynic in me does expect Defoe will be fit when Eagles play Riders If he isn't then of course ive just complained for no reason.
