Harden only won because russ won last year, I won’t entertain anyone who thinks LeBron isn’t the MVP, there really is no question!
Simmons isn’t a rookie, Tatum should’ve won that for the playoffs alone, liked Mitchell too
Couldn’t fairly comment on the rest tho

I dont like that they announce all the awards after the season is over, it feels like its after the Lord Mayor's show now. Plus when you see what LeBron did in the playoffs against what Harden did, you can't help but be influenced by that, even though the award is for the regular season. LeBron showed without question he's more valuable to his team than anyone else, and its not even close. He also showed he's still the best player in the world. So how do you then give James the trophy? I get why he won it but thats why it should have been handed out in mid-May.
Meanwhile you have to love the irony of Dwane Casey getting COY. Another reason its dumb to wait, at least let him have his moment in front of the home fans and then fire him after its all over.
As for Simmons, I've no problem with it. Blake Griffin won ROY after sitting out his first year injured, and I'm sure its happened another time as well. Mitchell wearing those stupid jumpers being passive-aggressive about it peed me off anyway, and smacked of he knew he wasn't going to win it and was trying to make a campaign to win on a technicality instead of because he was the better player.

Paul George has opted out of his contract to become a free agent. Bugger. Although it sounds like he may still return to OKC but just looking for a more lucrative deal. Either that or he's off to the Lakers. He's probably waiting to see if LeBron goes there and LeBron is probably waiting to see if the Lakers can acquire Kawai from the Spurs! If all 3 of them joined up it would be quite the competition for GS and Houston. I'm not a fan of guys looking for easy rides to success but right now the league is so desperate for a shake up and for someone to compete with GS. Yes Houston could have done it this year, but I have a feeling they have peaked now and won't be as good next season (unless they add Lebron). Anyway it's all keeping the off-season quite interesting!

Sam you were worrying unnecessarily as PG has signed a 4 year deal. If OKC can get some support for him and Russ whilst minimising the damage that Menlo does then they should be set nicely for a while.

Yep great news and 2 fingers up to Laker fanboys who yet again we're convinced of a star player coming to them only to be snubbed. It also spoils the narrative that Westbrook repels star players who hate playing with him. End of the day it's really only Durant who walked and he did so to make the biggest bitch move in league history, so F him.
This keeps OKC on 50+ win pace for 3-4 more seasons at least, we'll see if they can take another step up. Melo is gone after next season so that's not a problem. Roberson will be back from injury too, losing him did make an impact.

LeBron signs with Lakers...
Certainly not the destination I expected. He is a genius though so must know what he is doing.
They have some great young talent and another space for a max player but I just can’t see them being ready to win any time soon unfortunately.

Leonard to join him... guess Isaiah will be leaving Lakers then!
It's been good being a cavs fan all these years. Hopefully can trade out LeBrons boys and get a good young core around love. Could be a while before we see another championship game.

Yes Sam I am sure the Lakers Fanboys are crying in their beer this morning over the news that PG snubbed them :-)
Thomas should get out ASAP as he is not going to co-exist well with Lebron. I love that we will see the Lebron, Lance and Javaal show!
I also think they should move Ball. He cannot shoot and he will no longer have the ball as much, where he is at his best and shows real potential, particularly if they get Kawhi as well. If they can flip him for a 3 and D guy it would be more useful in the short term. I also don't think Lebron will want any part of the Lavar bull****.

Even so, with Rockets and Warriors waiting for them, it's going to be a tough route to the finals for Lakers, indeed any of them. The 76's and Celtics should be reasonably content that the big boys are going to beat the c**p out of each other before they get to play them in the championship!

I've just read an article by a US journalist who thinks Ball could be a huge part of any future success with LeBron and that his style of play will suit Lebron

So according to the clever people who like a wager on this sort of thing, Lakers are now the second most likely winners of next season's NBA Championship. Overreaction?

Im not entirely surprised by this - apparently his son was enrolled in a Los Angeles school recently which was a clue. So yes, finally the fanboys got one right and it was the big one! TBH I'm a Lebron fan and I've no issues with the Lakers now (apart from the Balls), so I'm excited to see how they do. Also to see how LeBron fares playing in the Western conference - just when you thought the East couldn't get any worse! At least they have Boston and Philly, but neither of those teams will compete with whoever comes out of the West bun fight.
I wonder if Paul George regrets his decision now? But I also wonder if he knew Lebron was going there and purposely wanted to avoid the circus and pressure that will come with.

Just looking at it in more depth, the analysis tends to be that the Lakers are not contenders as they currently stand, and in fact are probably not as good as last season's Cavs team. However, it sounds like LeBron is looking at this as a 3-4 year exercise and accepts in year 1 it might not result in a championship. I think they are hoping to acquire Leonard but if not this summer, sign him as a free agent next summer. With him on board I think that would make them serious contenders.
Interesting that they also added LeBron antagonist, Lance Stephenson!
The other thing is, this could all backfire very easily. Age and injury will surely catch up to Lebron before this deal expires. It backfired with Nash and Howard, it was clearly just plain dumb giving Kobe $50m in the state he was in, and now they might only get 2 really elite seasons out of LeBron...who knows!

He just lifts everything around him
I bet they have a very good season. And will definitely make the playoffs at least. Something they've not done for 5 or 6 years.
They become a team to be respected and feared overnight with just one signing

Now they have added Rondo too. I think that's a good fit - he has a reputation for being a bit lazy but Lebron wont allow that, and as playoff Rondo when he does work, he is still excellent. He averaged 10 and 12 for the Pelicans in the playoffs last season, that's exactly what the Lakers need. It also pushes Ball down the pecking order a bit - can't wait to hear what Daddy Ball has to say about that!

Seasons over before it began.
Boogie to the Warriors!? How did they have the cap space?

I'm not sure about Rondo to the Lakers. Ideal fit (leaving egos aside) should be a more shooting point guard with Lebron. Kyrie was perfect in many ways but ego of course comes into play. Rondo is a veteran version of Ball though so maybe they are hoping he will help the young prospect develop. Neither can shoot though so........ Somebody like Paddy Mills would play well with Lebron. Maybe all those Lakers Spurs discussions aren't really about Leonard :-)
I get the impression that generally Lebron doesn't like to wait and will demand a decent team. Who knows.
I've already had the first mail from NBA europe asking if I want to pre-order his Jersey. They don't even know his number yet!!

There have been claims that NO-ONE offered Boogie a contract except the Warriors?
I know the history of folks coming back from Achilles injuries aren't good, but surely someone could offer him more than the mid-level exception for one year?
I guess if he shows well this season, he could get the multi-million deal he wanted next season, but on that team, he isn't going to get a huge amount of touches on offence.

Perfect situation for boogie pretty much guarenteed a ring add to that he won't be needed right away meaning he can rehab how he likes! At his own pace and make a sure he comes back as strong as he can without the need to contribute and if he's anything like before proves he's still the boogie of old takes his ring and gets paid again!!

Yeah I dont expect him to be the player he was, at least not for some time. But still...just when it was looking like being a bit more competitive.

Agreed. Let’s imagine that Boogie rehabs quickly.
GSW will have this as a potential starting 5.
Steph Klay KD Draymond (hateful) Boogie
Terrifying.
I knows there’s caveats, like injuries and him fitting in. But that is tremendously ominous for the rest of the league.

As always some interesting pieces already on ESPN. One school of thought is that the Warriors core will not take any crap from him on any level. It will be FIFO time and I don't mean first in first out :-)
So if he can rehab and be even 80% the player he was then he certainly could and should be able to be a wonderful plan C for them.
Plan A space and shoot teams to death PLan B iso KD teams to death Plan C Pick and Rolls with Steph and Boogie

Why wouldn't they take any crap from him when they let Draymond behave like a little girl?
