I hope Fozzie doesn't read that comment Sam, "she" will call the Thought Police. Dramond being Draymond is just part of the Warriors thing, and he doesn't get away with it. The NBA denied them a title over something that could easily have been ohoverlooked. My thought on Boogie. It's a great deal for both of them, but they're not going to get the real Boogie.
I can't let any mention of Rondo go without mentioning that he's a bum.

Boogie has a LOT of rehab to do from the footage of him celebrating in the Pelicans locker room in the playoffs...
Achilles injury + his personality quirks, I’m not surprised interest was low.

18 different posters so far in this thread
I'm assuming that's an increase on NBA posters when it was in its own section?

Anyone else following Summer League? Bagley had a stinker last night - 2 (missed) shots in 28 minutes! Trae Young also misfiring so far. Allen and Wagner have both looked surprisingly good.

Not much in the way of headlines but Tony Parker has signed with the Hornets. Didn't see that coming! You just assume he'd be with SA until retiring. Not sure how much he can help Charlotte now though.

It'd be a shame if this thread slipped away, though I do "get" there's not that much to talk about.
It looks like Leonard is off to Philly my thoughts. I think he's behaved very poorly.

Sam - totally agree about the Parker move. Really surprising. ESPN have it rated as one of the worst moves of the summer so far due to the amount of better back up PGs available on the market still. HE certainly is a pro but age has caught up with him quicker than some and his unwillingness or inability (maybe both) to make 3s does not help in the modern NBA game. Really like Parker and don't know how much is the presence of fellow Frenchman and Batum makes it an attractive destination but to me looks like a strange move for Hornets
Hersey - agree on the Leonard thing and thanks for that extra link in your excellent blog. Sometimes you have to just cut your losses and roll the dice. The parallels with Derek Rose have been quite startling so far and if that continues......well lets just say getting something for him now might prove the best option.
This thread won't fade. I think despite it being the off season it demonstrates there are plenty of people with an interest/passing interest to suggest when season starts it will be better than the specific forum.

Great deal for Spurs if DeRozan gets over the betrayal and decides to show the Raps what they’re missing. I think he will fit well under Pops system. I’m struggling to see Kawhi sticking around in Canada after the next season so huge gamble for them. No idea how he’s gonna play next season after his season off. Rarely completes a season without some time on injured list. If at full power again he’s a better player all around than DeRozan but it’s an unknown for Nasty Nick and co.....

Is this a decision Nick Nurse will have made or is it a decision that gets made for him? Not sure how NBA is really run?

To me this is an all in for Toronto to capitalise on the LeBronless east hopefully often get a good season out of him and he leaves that maybe entice another free agent to resign! (As this has an element of a salary dump about it!! And for the spurs without the guarantee that kawhi will stay anywhere getting an all star back and a young 7 footer isn't a bad hall especially as there not in full rebuild!

I think the Raptors feel change is needed, and not just the coach. Although LeBron is out of the east now, Boston look primed for a finals run next season. Perhaps Ujiri felt he needed to go in a new direction as the existing core wasn't getting it done in the playoffs. If Leonard walks next summer, I guess he is accepting that could happen and they will then go into rebuild mode. He's probably seen Paul George spurning the Lakers after originally wanting to go there and hopes the same thing could happen with Leonard.
Meanwhile I like DeRozan at the Spurs - Pop will maximise what he's capable of giving, which for me has always seemed somewhat lacking in the playoffs. I dont think he makes the Spurs contenders in the loaded West but they should get to the 2nd round at least. He is rightly upset with how he's been snubbed by Toronto but I reckon like most players, he'll thrive playing for Pop in an unselfish system.
I dont think Nurse had anything to do with the trade. The suggestion is he won't even be expected to work on Leonard throughout the season to persaude him to re-sign, Ujiri will take on that role. Nurse just needs to focus on the coaching and getting wins - this team has a chance (albeit a small one) to go to the finals so its a great opportunity. If Leonard walks next summer and they rebuild, this will be his only chance to make such a run.

Sam you must be over the moon that OKC managed to jettison Melo and turned him into a very capable back up PG as well in Shroeder? Great move by OKC ESPN say Hawks will waive Melo and that Rockets will sign him. Big cheer goes up at the Warriors....their number one contender from last season just got worse!

Yes happy with the deal, it seemed like we were stuck with him for a while there. Shroeder should be a good fit, I like his game and think he still has more upside. Quite why Houston are so keen on Melo, I don't know! He really is washed up now.

If he wants a ring he should swallow his pride, take the min and sit on end of the bench at GSW ;-)

A few ramblings on LeBron, Dirk, Carmello and Deng. Now I've got the hang of this linky thing.

I bet the Warriors wouldn't pee on Melo if he was on fire! Given he still thinks he is starter material, I wonder how D'Antoni will persaude him he's not, if he does land in Houston. If he goes with Miami he might start, but I don't get why he would because they're not contenders, they're not anything really. The most we'll see out of the Heat next year will be a D-Wade farewell circus like Kobe had, if he declares its his last season. One thing that I do like about the East, for as weak as it looks now, it will be competitive. You can more or less map out now which 8 from the West will make the playoffs, but I think only 3 are near on guaranteed a spot in the East. There's nothing like a good bun fight for seeds (see what I did there?)

Bearing in mind what Lebron earns from off court endorsements etc then I seriously doubt the wage being offered to him by clubs plays much (if any part) in his decision making as to where he plays I read that his Nike deal alone is a lifetime deal worth in excess of $1 billion.

Indeed, he could play for nothing and still be seriously rich (I've made him that offer) but he does always expect to earn top dollar. I get that, but the lack of cap space (and general bad recruitment) certainly hampered his search for another ring last season. He doesn't seem to have parted company with JR Smith, though.
