Some thoughts. As an aside i wish they'd just hurry the first round up. No one needs two off days between games on the same court. It's not like they're running ahead of schedule.

I've not watched G3 Suns Lakers yet but I've seen the results and the footage of the so called fracas.....not exactly 90s Knicks v Bulls/Pacers or 80s Pistons v Celtics was it! Or 00's Pacers v Pistons!
Its a good thing overall that those days have gone of course.............made for great TV though :-0

I like that you've linked to your comment admonishing me for not mentioning embiid's latest injury In other news Leonard is broken, CP3 is plagued up to an unknown degree and Stan Van has left the building. Quickly. daveballblog.wordpress.com/2021/06/17/my-turn-next/

There sure are a lot of injuries. I see Lebron has come out to say "told you so" in a series of badly written Tweets. However sometimes you have to wonder about the cause of all of this. During the first lockdown quite a few NBA players would have got their longest rest from competitive basketball since they started playing the sport at whatever age! Many of them have serious miles on the clock and I would have imagined it was a great time to heal and do some personal work on strength and conditioning. I guess the key question is whether the return to the bubble and then the shortened off season before this current one is to blame?
Certainly Leonard has history. Kyrie turning his ankle is not to do with it. COVID protocols are not to do with it.
Lastly yes. You have dodgy knees too....show the big fella some sympathy :-)

Since the playoffs started I've changed my mind about 18 times on which team will win the title. I'm currently back on the Nets. Was hovering on the Suns for a few days. Unfortunately the only predictable thing is the injuries...

I think I've seen enough of the Nets now to say if they were all fit they would be the team to beat. They are not though and so far have not been! Also as good as KD was in G5 the Bucks made a mess of it. AS they showed on the half time show and at times in the games they had so many mismatches and they let the Nets off the hook massively.
I do think these playoffs are highlighting though the limitation of having star players who cannot shoot from outside the key (Giannis and Simmons) particularly if they are weak free throw shooters.
Hats off to KD though. Awesome game and he started off missing a few too.
As things currently stand with CP3 I think its Suns in the West and whoever wins that Bucks/Nets series.

You have dodgy knees too....show the big fella some sympathy :-)Assuming you mean Leonard, and at the risk of turning into Sam H (whatever happened to him), I certainly don't wish serious injury. I just find him and his team utterly unlikeable. I can't bring myself to wish anything other than misery for them. For all that, they did a great job in G5. Whether they can repeat it at home in G6 is the big question. As Mavs showed, thinking "we've only got to win one of two" is a bit flawed when the second is away from home. That's the Mavs who've just lost their coach and GM in the space of 24 hours which I'm a bit stunned about. Bad things appear to be happening in Dallas. Re the (apparent) injury plague. They've played fewer games of basketball over the last two seasons than in more than 50 years. It's been stop-start, but the most regular season games played by a single team over that period was 145 by Mavs. That's 19 less than normal. The Bubble saved them the grind of travel and the fatigue that goes with it. While things haven't been easy, I also wonder how many players just sat around during lockdowns. Luka openly admitted that he thought they season would start in January and got a bit fat while sitting around in what he thought was a decent length off season. The players union signed off on a December start because they wanted their money, it's easy for LeBron to look for a shorter season (and a cut in wages) because he's already insanely rich. The 14th man at a lottery team might not be so keen on a 12% cut to permanently go from 82 to 72 games. But then that doesn't seem to be enough for some of the player, anyway.

No I meant Embiid. Never can be sure how injured Leonard is.

With six teams remaining, is it right that three have never been NBA champions, and of the other three the most recent winners are Philidelphia pre-Barkley.
I believe the four multi-champions this century (Lakers, Warriors, Spurs and Heat) have featured in every final since 1999. Throw in the Bulls and the Rockets and I think you can extend the period to 30 years.
My figures may be wrong, but good to see some new teams featuring exclusively at the end.

Am just settling down to watch Suns Clippers Game 1.
Do hope Suns get it done, but losing Chris Paul is a bigger deal than Clippers missing Leonard, especially as Terrance Mann (who?) produced an incredible performance in the win over Utah.
I don't like Clippers stacking their roster, just as I dislike the Nets for doing likewise. Additionally, I'm not keen on the 76ers because I dislike Rivers endlessly sashaying into jobs without having a record to match all that he is gifted by the owners, and I really detest Dwight Howard.
Bucks v Suns Final for me please.

Although its small beer compared to Cheshire making another signing in the BBL or indeed the make up of the Northern division of the U12 regional league apparently the best basketball league in the world has now reached the final stages!
I read the Suns are the bookies favourites and no doubt that has something to do with Giannis injury. There is very little online to suggest whether he will play or not. With him able to play near to his best I think there is not too much to separate the teams. The Bucks are physically bigger but interestingly they struggle to properly leverage that when Giannis plays. Without him they seem to play more to that strength.
On the other hand perhaps the impressive Suns would be favourites anyway? They really have come on strong. Great balance of Pauls veteran leadership with their younger talent lead by Booker.
I think sans Giannis its Suns in 5. With Giannis able to play almost to his normal Suns in 7.

In my defence, I haven't discussed either the NBA or JNBL U-12s i don't think this is the place for deep and meaningful NBA conversation. This thread averages about one post per day. Agree with you and lanky bloke. I've really enjoyed watching Suns' march to the final and Paul has been exceptional at times. Giannis at the foul line is plain embarrassing. Edit: By demand of Connors.

I’m still struggling having to wait 3days for a game. I got used to watching multiple games every night. NBA pass has to be the best value for money purchase I’ve ever made. I have loved the uncertainty of the play offs despite the results being injury influenced. History won’t say Lebron, AD, Harden, Kahwi, Kyrie, Clay were injured. It’ll say a Bucks Suns final. I can’t predict the outcome despite Giannis free throws. Loved the crowd counting the ten seconds when he was on the line. I don’t understand how players of the ilk of Giannis snd Lebron can be so bad from the charity strip but Ben Simmons is a complete liability. Can’t see the 76ars sticking with him but who wants a max contract player whose a liability down the stretch?

Certainly he is the voice I associate most with the NBA. He was the main commentator back in the 90s during the Bulls Championship years so he is fortunate to be associated as well with many of Jordans iconic moments!
He still does a decent job in my opinion and always has a good rapport with Reggie Miller. I like Mike Breen and Kevin Harlan too but Marv has always been the man!
When it comes to the colour commentators I don't think you can beat JVG.

Fair enough, Albert has been an icon of basketball commentary. On the other hand we can probably all think of people who have stood out in their field, but surely this should not give them a free pass for behaviour that 'ordinary people' would be more readily taken to task for. Albert admitted his crime in order to àvoid jail time. Some truly bizarre details in the tale, such as one victim describing grabbing his toupee to deter his advances
