Bakken have added a final American, Hayden Dalton. First year pro out of Wyoming. Had a very productive college career. Averaged the best part of 18 and 8 last season and shot over 40% from deep in a decent conference. Summer League teammate of Akoon-Purcell. Initially signed a deal with Ludwigsburg who are one of the better sides in the German Bundesliga (BCL semi-finalists last season). Was released due to concerns about his physicality by the sounds of it. He's 6'8" but rail thin. Potentially looks a really good addition I'm afraid. This is going to be tough... even more so if we're not even full strength ourselves.

Taken from Riders in Europe thread (probably best suited I here)...
Looks like Niem Stevenson’s knee injury is causing concerns. The chances of him playing against Bakken seem remote at best. Be interesting to see what Riders ultimately do. Surely they can’t wait forever before seeking alternatives, especially as Stevenson was supposed to be a top draw player whom we were no doubt counting on a lot.

Agreed, good luck in every European game you play in whatever the level. Bad luck in every BBL/ cup/ trophy game!!! Was planning to see this but had a better offer, off to Newcastle v Nix instead.

Great podcast on Riders twitter about us playing in Europe by Jamel Anderson
Basically saying that given the choice between training 5 days playing 1 game a week and training 2 days playing a game, training 2 days playing a game etc he would always take the second option
TBF Riders do train hard regardless and I guess playing 2 or 3 games a week and training less is just another way of having a hard week
If anything it's the preparation for one team a week in terms of tactics etc that we are likely going to miss the most
I'm sure we will get injuries but with hard training you can get injuries just as much as you do in matches
Travelling may drain some energy as well
But as Jamel says Rob knows when certain players need a rest
Some of our players won't need a rest and some will
Going to be a roller coaster no doubt but it's an exciting challenge for all concerned

I don't care if they've signed Lebron James for a two-game special. Let's enjoy the ride regardless of how bumpy it might be. At least we are getting a ride.

Do teams wear different jerseys in the early rounds, like a whole new jersey and not just the League version replacing the competition logos.
Pretty sure someone mentioned a competition wide sponsorship by Nike but does that come into play only if you make the Regular Season?

Ps in the other thread I tongue in cheek suggested we get Tyler back for these 2 games with Niem being injured
Apparently there is a bankers basketball League in London and Morgan Stanley (who Tyler now works for) have got Tyler playing guard for them now!
Somehow I think they might just win the league!!
Lol
No wonder he got the job!

So let me just check, this first round of qualifiers is a 2-leg aggregate affair? So Riders need to score more points than Bakken Bears over 2 games to progress to the next round?

He's a huge loss. Our best player imo.

Yep and he's physically strong enough to deal with Euro basketball
Our chances of a good result just got a lot slimmer
But we just have to get on with it I guess and give it our best shot
Looking forward to the game

Massive miss. Will the new guy and thompson be enough/different role for Wright? Hopefully a positive result for riders

Massive miss. Will the new guy and thompson be enough/different role for Wright? Hopefully a positive result for riders New guy will barely know the players or plays I think Tray and Andy T will have to play out of their skin both games As well as Larson (the new big guy) who himself is still getting match fit after being injured And personally I don't like Andy being pushed too hard for too many minutes as we need him protected to a certain extent to remain fit all season We aren't in the best shape for this but I'm sure Rob will still think we can get a result whatever it takes

Having been anticipating this game for at least 2 months, not sure if its excitement or trepidation now that game day is finally here!

Having been anticipating this game for at least 2 months, not sure if its excitement or trepidation now that game day is finally here! Just give it beans and make sure you go away from the arena with no voice having made it a decent atmosphere.
Nothing ventured... nothing gained. Got everything crossed for them tonight.
