People having been claiming the playoffs are worthless for as long as Bev has been here. Yet curiously everyone wants to be in them. Similarly, I'm yet to see a team not celebrate winning the league because the playoffs are more important.
Take the pot for winning the league away, and people will talk about regular season champs. The ACC gave up with that in spite of Americans not caring about leagues.

Surrey Scorchers that’s via the final league standings

I reckon that the BBL Cup group pool draw will be Pool A London Lions Newcastle Eagles Glasgow Rocks Cheshire Phoenix Manchester Giants Worcester Wolves Pool B Leicester Riders London City Royals Sheffield Sharks Plymouth Raiders Bristol Flyers Surrey Scorchers that’s via the final league standings Based on what? Has there been any indication from the BBL yet how they are going to divide the league for the Cup next season? |

I can't imagine it being anything except north/south. The only decision is whether Worcester or Leicester go in the south.

Or you put Sharks in the Northern group and stick both Wolves and Riders den where they belong. How about mixing it up, put Rocks in the 'Southern' group, great for Air miles? |

Sharks have to be in the northern group already North Glasgow Manchester Newcastle Sheffield Cheshire South London Lions London Royals Bristol Plymouth Surrey Worcester and Leicester are both in the middle and could go in either (If Worcester go in the southern you've got the bottom three clubs from the league table in the same group). But if Riders go in the South you've got three of the top four in the same group. I suspect Riders join the North. |

They were announced on July 16th last year. Expect them to be a bit later this year as they try to work out how to fit all those meaningless Cup games in at the beginning of the season (sigh)
