Congrats to the Lions, best team all season and well deserved.
And just to think the first ever trophy to be lifted at the ECA was not by the Eagles, that’s one for the history books.
Was gonna say this has to be the first time we have seen another team lift a trophy on the Eagles floor, playing against the Eagles but remembered the Plymouth Raiders did it in the trophy final at the Newcastle Arena in 2008 (I think it was).
For the Eagles I think we battled hard and didn’t go down without a fight, just the Lions were better and it shows what we have to do to match them and beat them.
We all know about the injuries we have at the moment and again being without 3 key players which is hurting us, also the fact we played 24 hours earlier on the road. The guys were obviously tired but that’s why we need a deeper team next season, like the Lions and Riders. But also certain players we have didn’t step up enough and some just aren’t up to it and are not going to make us a better team. Changes have to be made next season and the team needs to be strengthened.
But by other teams standards we have had a good season. Many teams below us would have loved to finish third. But we are the Eagles and we always want to do better. Hopefully with some better players and a better team we will be up there challenging the likes of the Lions. But I also think some other teams are going to get better as well next season.
