... theyve been no where near as good since they haven't had a good American point guard! 2017-19: winning just the three of the six pieces of British silverware available. And Raiders are 0 for how many against Riders? LOL. On your general point, though, I don't think anyone would disagree about Riders not being as good last season as in previous years. I think we probably looking at a complete new lineup of imports, at least. I can't recall any off season since I've been following Riders that we had any genuine idea about what sort of roster we'd have for the next campaign, so this is situation normal.

I.know we've won nothing but with zaire Clarke had that fear factor you knew you were beaten before they turned up they just haven't had the fear factor in the last few years

The riders team that finished the season was more than good enough to win the league this season but we won't see that team

The pressure is on our coach and the club to recruit a team capable of challenging for silverware again. Eagles, Lions and Royals will be strong opponents I imagine but we have been here before. Rob has been one of the very best coaches in the BBL and I'm eager to see what he'll assemble for the forthcoming season.
Seems an age till we all get to watch competitive BBL basketball again at the arena. Can't wait!

Conner had a 21 point 9 rebound game away against szolnoki Olaj from Hungary in Europe which may have helped draw attention to him Do Hungarian teams benefit from having Euro players on the roster? Compared to non EU? I think it will definitely have raised his profile in Hungary mate. That along with a few solid performances for GB will have drawn him to the attention of various Euro teams. He fits the Euro style and will be effective in his role; frustrating and stifling the oppositions PG. He also doesn’t take up an ‘import’ slot, which will be a huge bonus for his new club. On the subject of having big games in Europe- I’ll never forget Mike Martin’s 28 point 15 rebound 4 steal performance against Turk Telekom for Guildford in their final game in the ULEB Cup. That was truly something else! Had he not been 34 years old at the time, you’ve got to think that he would have been offered a more lucrative deal to play out in Europe (mind you, the only time he left the BBL he suffered from homesickness). What a player he was on his day!

Can anyone remember an outstanding US Rookie in the first year they played in the BBL. Complete Rookie from College? Plenty of examples. Back in the day Alton Byrd. And more recently that Scott Martin chap wasn't too bad.

In recent years Bill Cole impressed me when at Cheshire. Not in the Alton Byrd league but can’t think of many better rookies in recent years. Very honourable mention to Matt Schneck.

And more recently that Scott Martin chap wasn't too bad. I second that. There have been loads- too many to post in fact. In recent years Brooks, Williams (as previously mentioned), Tony Hicks, David Kadiri, CJ Gettys, DeShawn Freeman, Rashad Hassan, Hameed Ali, Brandon Clark, Cameron Rundles, Tyler Bernardini (holds an Italian passport but is essentially American and came straight out of Pennsylvania to the BBL), are all players who came fresh out of college and were very valuable to each of their teams and the league. Those are only the ones I can think of immediately off of the top of my head. If we dig deeper into the BBL past the list will become huge.

Seems to be alot of quiet teams on social media at the moment. Always confuses me why teams go radio silence during the off season. Then it is as if there is a panic a month or two before it kicks off again.

Cheshire Phoenix has announced the signing of French forward Karim Mouliom. Put up some nice numbers playing Div 2 college basketball last season. Might be good. Will definitely be athletic...
They've also signed former Charnwood College player Johde Campbell.
