My reliable source said he wouldn't return to the bbl He wont. Riders have one mo to announce How have we arrived at the conclusion that Riders are signing Mo Walker purely from someone posting this? There are plenty of other Mo's out there. I'd be hugely surprised if we signed Walker AND Clayton. I fully expect Chuku to be our starting 4 and I can't imagine either of those guys being content with a bench role. I also doubt the budget is there.

So, in summary........
Someone mentions "Willie Clayton to Riders" but the consensus on here is that is a non-starter.
Someone cryptically mentions. "mo" and the assumption is made that this is Mo Walker (the ex Worcester big man).
Only time will tell......

Whoever we hire I'd appreciate knowing sooner rather than later. We're almost in August and still awaiting signing news. Perhaps it's like this every year but I'd rather have news early. Impatient to get watching BBL games again.

I also doubt the budget is there. I think the budget would be there bearing in mind the money Hampton, Holder and Williams would have been earning or demanding from us to stay And we've had this before about players like Taylor King and Hampton signing who wouldn't be happy with playing less minutes for us. But we managed to keep everyone happy and won the treble I'm not ruling either of these out as the two posters aren't the kind to make stuff up on here from my experience Plus it fits in with Russ's celebratory tweet the other day

So we have two very respected posters on here One saying Riders have signed Willie Clayton The other saying we have signed Mo Walker Both of those are statement signings to say the very least To add to the quality US import point guard (Cartwright) we already signed and the quality GB forward we already signed (Chuku) Add in Anderson, Ward Hibbert, Thompson and Gamble of course We would still need at least three quality guards from Europe and/or GB to add to that of course. But that's a scary looking squad we are putting together I hope these guys are right It was said on Riders media that we would look to put together a team suitable for competing in Europe next season. Clayton would be the centre we never got last season for the job Where did it say that we would be recruiting for Europe next season?

I don't think theres many players who would be angry regarding minutes along as the money is the same

Except it isn't that simple.
Clayton for all the smiles and whatever was a very me-first guy.
Rob wont have that.
Thinking about this - it's a no brainer we sign him. Rob can figure out how to get the best from him. Far sooner have someone of proven quality that needs a bit of man management than someone who's a great team player but doesn't have the strength or quality we need If Willie Clayton can't do a great job as centre for us then we may as well give up on centres full stop!
Trust me, after what I've heard about him Rob wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. If he does it wont end well for either party.

Russ Levenston has expressed excitement about some pretty unexciting things in the past. Let us not forget the Florida Tech friendly a few years ago. He made that sound like the must see event of the summer.
Hampton and King both started. Chuku is an in his prime British big who was apparently on the fringes of the GB squad a few years ago and up 'til now, has played exclusively in better leagues than the BBL. I imagine he'll have cost a few quid. We've also got Thomson back on probably more money than he's worth (based on the last few seasons anyway). And we have other areas of the roster to think about... Very little announced at the wing positions currently. Happy we've re-signed Ward-Hibbert but I doubt the plan is for him to start. Walker AND Clayton would seem like a pretty massive investment to make in two quite similar players. I think it's unlikely.
I hope the Mo Walker rumour is true. If it is, I'm really not fussed about Clayton. I think that money would be better spent elsewhere.

Have heard from a few people that Clayton was most likely going to be London bound IF he chose to stay in the BBL, to replace Kervin Bristol. Would be very, very surprised to see him sign at Leicester- personally donโt actually think heโd be a good fit at Riders given Robs preferred style and rotation.
I think itโs more likely that he goes abroad personally. He certainly didnโt have many good things to say about BBL referees!

Plus his best mate is Ashton Khan and it was him who got Walker to sign for wolves in the first place Wonder if we can sign the pair of them ??

Hmm..think I'll take this with a pinch of salt. It's fine MRF Pablo Cheeks has put his entire reputation as a trustworthy and reliable poster on whatsbev on the line to tell us this Don't worry !! His entire fantasy basketball business could fail and come crashing down if he gets this wrong !! How dare you! I have a terrible reputation! This could just underline the fact...

Loving the interactions from this thread. I would stress at this point that these are rumours. Some of the sources may not be as reliable as others, but it's all good fun!

Tim Williams officially moving on next season. Was always going to be hard to keep him. One of the more talented offensive big men the league has seen in recent years.
Kiefer also leaving, as most people expected too.
New shooting guard looks decent. Only seems to be mentioned in the Mercury so far. Guessing that means JR won't be back, which would be a shame. Even if he didn't quite kick on as I expected in his second year I would still have been more than happy to have him back.

I know we will have made them good offers to stay but to no avail. But that also means we have good budget to spend on their replacements. Who does the Mercury say we have signed?

Namon Wright. Played a couple of years at Missouri then transferred to Colorado. So another guy who played at a high level in college. Apparently started his senior year really well then got injured and eventually had surgery to heal a foot problem.
Obviously a talented player. Very highly rated coming out of high school. Recruited by a lot of the top programs. Started as a freshman at Missouri. Had some impressive games against some tough opposition.
If we can get similar production to the last guy we had that played at Missouri then we're doing ok.

JC @thebookofcon ยท Jun 14 @sixers should draft Namon Wright. Big guard. Can guard multiple spots on the floor and can score with the best of this draft class with ease. Easy 3 & D skills.
That will do for me
