Newcastle lost to USA Select 83 -84 Well either USA Select are loads better than normal or Eagles are not as good as we thought they might be (or both I guess) I was expecting a 20 plus point win for Eagles I'm just back from my first game seeing that. I was curious about no Fab but now that I've seen the news here now so that clears that up. (dunno if it was announced on the PA as I could barely understand anything he said with the pre-season accoustics) There was no Mitchell or Morsell and Hussein was injured late in the 1st so missing a lot of up front firepower. So Matthew and Yabantu played and also a player 0 (no number on shirt) who got a few mins and a 3pt score. Who was he? (edit after seeing match report: "Academy product Sauveur Kande") It may be just me missing many the Eagles got but I thought they looked bad on rebounds. Glasgow looked good.

Team trained for the first time last night and two of our players Mike Morsell and John Mitchell haven’t arrived yet.
Very early days and hard to judge the team when they haven’t really had time to play together let alone train and we are missing two players.

I wasn’t at the game but by all accounts they all impressed and the returning players were good too.
Just need time together and the two new guys to arrive, hopefully they will before Friday’s game.

So, here’s my take on tonight’s Eagles friendly game: 1. This year’s US Select team is a step ahead of recent years, especially in the backcourt. The guy wearing 3 went to Davidson and, whilst not Steph Curry, would be a decent recruit for any team in a BBL or slightly better league. 2. Eagles only trained for the first time yesterday and it showed. 3. Not over-concerned by the result, but clearly a lot of improvement to come. 4. The new players all looked OK. Bristol is a quality act. Big guy Mitchell and Morsell are still en route so didn’t play, whilst Hussein slipped on a damp court patch and turned an ankle. He’s certainly pretty long! 5. Not surprisingly, Fab was a major talking point. 6. Really good crowd for a Tuesday night, and lots of beer profits for the club! Great arena!

A couple of people who saw TUSA at Brentwood said they were best side they've brought for a long time

Eagles defeated Worcester 86-80 tonight. Was a good solid game by both teams. Was impressed with Jordan Williams and Kofi Joseph’s for Worcester. Eagles were really solid too but still with loads of room for improvement. Mike Morsell in his first game and having only arrived 24 hours earlier was really impressive and looks like he’s going to be a good player. I like the look of Glasgow Jr as well and showed some good things. Darius was a beast and Fletch was Fletch. When we get the two new big guys playing they will add a new dimension also.

Sounds like promising pre - season progress for Ian Mcleod’s Eagles, but this thread is for all teams. Certain teams seem conspicuously absent.....

Lions comfortably beat Calpol 89-71. Three stands open at the Copper Box were completely packed.

Lions lost 89-105 to Danish champions Bakken Bears last night. The game was played very competitively and was very close until Q3, when the withdrawal of Robinson with what looked like a minor injury and the bench depth proved decisive.
I'd be very surprised if Lions don't have two more starters to announce, to join Robinson, Peel and Allen-Jordan on the floor.

Reading the report, it seems Lions lack of big men hindered them massively during the game. Hopefully a decent American big will go a long way to sorting that out as I'm guessing our budget won't run to a decent British one.

Centre now signed. It certainly was the case we were struggling with rebounds, in the second half especially. We weren't a good match-up physically and our big Jordan Jackson didn't do anything on the glass.
