Any guesses who else will be in at Leicester? I'm intrigued to see how they finish off their recruitment. Am assuming a good rookie US wing and maybe another decent Brit/ Euro signing to complete what will be a very competitive unit with Walker on board. With Eagles' recruitment seeming slow this season (or are they just being tactical?) I suspect this Leicester team will start as firm favorites unless someone (Lions?) unexpectedly produces a rabbit out of a hat. Talking of which, with the recruitment they have done Leicester would be nicely balanced if they had brought back Flight42, although I dare say that ship has sailed? I believe Trayvonn is playing in Luxembourg next season

I think the last club Wright would play for would be Riders after the way he was abandoned. His time with us ended as a drawn-out whimper not a bang.

Riders sign Italian-US guard Joe Scott from Vienna Timberwolves in Austria.......an old mate of Rundles and Bernadini.
Looks like a very good back-up guard to the two American guards already signed.Led his team in scoring last year and shot 40% from behind the arc.
Now all they need is a quality US forward, which I'm sure is "in the bag", and they will have a very deep and nicely balanced squad. Make no mistake, Leicester are building a formidable squad for the season ahead.

I am really excited about this new signing, and hope he proves to be as good as I think he is.
Yes, he's a tad older than most of our signings, but he brings a host of experience as a leader, and could well be with us for many seasons if he likes it here in Leicester, maybe even a future club captain.
A good article about him, and what he can bring to a team :-

This guy seems a perfect fit for a Paternostro player: “It all comes down to defense.”

Difficult to tell how effective he will be but, given the prior knowledge of Rundles and Bernadini, I'm sure Riders will have a fair idea of what they will be getting.
Austrian top league fairly comparable with BBL, I expect, so despite several inactive seasons his performances last year would suggest he is a good recruit. I'd be inclined to discount college experience on grounds that it's a long time ago and was NCAA3.
My strong suspicion is that he will be a very effective role player who will provide leadership and will shoot the 3 well. Not sure what he means for the court time of Lascelles and Ward-Hibbert off the bench, though.
Time will tell! Would love to know what Eagles are up to.

Suspect JWH will still be getting good minutes but it will probably mean fewer for Lascelles?

It also means we have a slot left for an American import should we require it, given Scott is Italian/American like Bernardini was.

2 missed seasons in a row? Serious injury perhaps? Austrian league is probably a bit better than the BBL, surprised a leading scorer would then want to come off the bench. Wouldn't be surprised to see him start many games, may even be moved to wing for large parts of the game

Cost a lot of dosh. Pay is way higher in Austria. Atwood ex Scorchers has gone there and is being paid loads. Is Rob robbing the bank on this one. Mature and not a guy out of College. Looking forward.

Looking forward. How sure are you that they pay loads in Austria outside of Kapfenburg (the Euro team)? I agree that they pay decently, had a few friends play there in the last few years and they were paid well- don’t get me wrong, but wouldn’t describe it as loads in the grand scheme of European basketball top-leagues (or even second or third in the case of Spain and France). I think Riders and certainly the Royals of last year would pay some players comparably. Walker will certainly be the one that’s being paid the most out of the incoming Riders squad, not this guy. Can’t believe Atwood has got a gig with Kapfenburg in all honesty. Bang average BBL player on a poor team who didn’t stand out at all last season. Would be surprised if he lasts out there unless he’s significantly improved over summer playing in South America.

More excited by the prospect of what Riders may be able to produce on court than I have been for a few seasons. Last time I was this hopeful was when we signed Drew Sullivan. (That turned out quite well...)

NCAA Div 111 college but I guess that's the best we can hope for in the Bargin Basement League nowadays I`m sure he will be a solid player but its a continual disappointment that this is the level of player in our league currently Don`t think he will be a John White (Anyone remember him ?) but heyho

The 31-year old Scott averaged 15.3 points per game alongside 2.3 assists with Vienna last season and will be looking to bring shooting and his experience to the roster for the upcoming year.
Scott is pleased to join the Riders organisation for the upcoming season off the back of a great year on the continent.
“It’s a blessing. I’m thankful to be here, and I’m thankful to know just how much everyone involved is hungry to win. I recognize just how much pride goes into wearing the name on the front of the jersey at Leicester, and I love it.
“The winning culture that the organization and management, the coaches, the players, and the fans all bring creates such an exciting environment, and I’m so geared up and ready to contribute to it.”
The veteran shooter will add a new dimension to the Riders roster and shares ties with the club through his former teammates. Scott played alongside former Captain Tyler Bernardini in Italy as well as competed in high school alongside former Riders guard Cameron Rundles.
“I actually never played in the UK BBL, but I’ve been keeping tabs on the Riders since 2011, when my long-time friend and former teammate Cameron Rundles first started his professional career at Leicester,” commented Scott.
“I also played in Italy with Tyler Bernardini, and I know how much he bleeds Red and Black. Both of these high-character guys rave about the Riders, and it just gets me more and more excited to join this organisation and strive for greatness along with it.”
Head Coach Rob Paternostro believes Joe’s experience will aid in the success of the team this season. “We are happy to add Joe to our roster, he is a guard who can really shoot the ball from the perimeter and is a player who competes at a high level with a high basketball IQ. “I enjoyed watching him play, not only was he talented and can put up big numbers in a hurry, but he consistently plays hard as an aggressive player who plays to win.” “He had a really good season in Austria last year, and talking to coaches in that league he was well respected in the way he plays. Talking to him you can tell right away that he is hungry to win, and is excited about joining our club. “It’s always nice to have someone with professional experience who has proven himself at the pro level.”

Clearly Rob will have spoken to Tyler before signing this guy. If he can get anywhere close to the impact Tyler had for us then we will do well next season
Some great signings on paper from Rob and Russ and Kev this season.
The exact opposite of lazy recruitment
Let's see what our rivals have done
