The last 2 minutes were entirely played by players we would much prefer on the bench including the junior shark. Going back a few years, I was more than happy for the young lads, junior sharks, bench warmers, to get court experience, a good run out; more recently I changed my views and would like to see the more senior players put up a big score, a big win. Is this the junior sharks that for the first time in history have not been able or bothered to turn out an U18 team of any level. Perhaps you were happy to see juniors making up the numbers and getting court experience because players of quality were being produced year after year by coaches who new what they were doing. BBL sharks are killing the top flight game in Sheffield at senior and junior level. It is really difficult to watch it happening. All because of self interest from a few individuals who see it as a job or family opportunity and not a way of improving the sport or quality.

All because of self interest from a few individuals who see it as a job or family opportunity and not a way of improving the sport or quality. Not exactly sure what to say to this. A bit of a rant maybe? Someone related to a junior shark? Personal issues with the club? I've been going to games for a large number of years and hand on heart cant really say when junior sharks started to appear on the bench. Maybe forever? Atiba's days? I don't know. I've got lots of programmes around the house, I guess I could have a look back, if I was bothered. In answer to one of the questions raised, personally I used to like to see young sharks because of the experience they would gain, mixing with the seniors and court time. Overtime I've gone against this as any court time is when the game is all but over, massive leads (by either team) and I've watched big leads been eaten away by the losing team still playing the staters against the much less experienced juniors. I now would prefer to see the lead maintained and our starters putting up a big score; not letting up. Whether it's a budget thing or not, it's most likely cheaper to have 1 or 2 junior's filling the bench than players that could be part of a larger rotation. We're supposed to be going deeper this season but yet still have a junior on the bench. I know through talking to other parents that there as been issues between the senior club and the juniors, particularly with the club completely seperating themselves at one point. Those parents have not been happy that their child hasn't had the support or been allowed to develop through the ranks. At the same time I've seen many junior's come through and yes most if not all are related in some way or other to management. Not all though. Some of gone on to play elsewhere, one decided to concentrate on his studies. Overtime I've been made aware that there has been some juniors not offered professional contracts with the sharks. Some of these have gone on to play successfully for other teams in the BBL and for clubs over seas; very successfully. Is that the fault of individuals making opportunities for family? Not improving the quality of the sport in Sheffield? I don't think that's for me to answer.
