Be good to get back to “proper” basketball, Sharks backcourt looked pretty tasty at copper box so it should be a good battle against Fletch & Glasgow Jr 💪🏀

This should be a great game. Both teams are looking strong this season.

An upgrade on last years pg? Retsek will know Is Lewis an upgrade on Collins? Lols, yes massively. Cashaw is certainly not an upgrade on Williams though.

As good as Lewis has been, the big difference so far this season is the form of McKnight and Koch fgiving Sharks the big man presence they lacked last season.
It’s great (and a surprise) that Lewis has effectively replaced the points Alexander gave us but McKnight has really upped his production and meant that we are getting more from the backcourt than last season.
The loss of Williams so far hasn’t hurt us despite Backovic averaging 20 mins per game which is frankly ridiculous and must reduce now that Cashaw looks to be fully integrated.
Friday will be the toughest test yet for Lewis / McKnight because in Fletcher and Glasgow the Eagles have two all action guards that will force them to play hard at both ends of the court. I’ve still got my doubts about McKnight / Lewis defensively.
Is the form of Lewis / McKnight just that? Form? Or have both got it in them to maintain it over a season?

Going to be a tough test for both teams I reckon. Should be one to watch alright.

I've actually been really impressed with Nick's defense - he can really disrupt and get after opponents backcourts and he's strong on the boards due to his athleticism. Handled Fletcher and Glasgow jnr in the preseason but don't think that will count for much.

To be fair I'm not sure the bbl actually know what a key clash is. They just compare 2 random players

In official competition he is averaging 17.3 points and 11.3 rebounds. Would love to know where the BBL got these numbers for such a completely random comparison.

Curiously he is on the box scores for the first 2 games playing 0 minutes, despite not being dressed for the game due to injury. If they included those I think you get the numbers they had.

The toughest test yet. Rocks were the last one, which we passed easy enough. Lewis and McKnight played their part in D too stopping the Rock's offence.
Koch is the big that we have been missing for some time; I'll go back to Paul Williams.
Part of me will accept a win and a loss, home wins for both teams. That'll see us in a good position to progress.
However, to convince a few that that we have a decent team ( a scary team) we need to win both, but actually am I that bothered. Maybe perhaps better to go unnoticed..? But then again, I'd end up just trying to tell people that we are going to have a good season despite losing to Newcastle.
I'd really love for us to win the Cup, just to be able to stick (fill the rest in) However, I'm beginning to look forward to the league starting and when things really do matter.

Really difficult one for me in terms of watching it.
Wednesday are on Sky away at Cardiff and I'll be in't pub watching that. Not much chance of following Sharks apart from picking up the odd tweet.
Difficult decision to make when I get home, don't want to be disappointed twice in one night. A Sheffield double but then again they might both win. That'll be a good night.

Mackey is a great leader, and is improving himself & the team Nick has always shown promise , maybe he’s now turning that promise into reality Koch is a stable big man we haven’t had for a while Cashew has now had 1 & 1/2 games plus another week to bed in Bouna should be fit enough for a full game now
That looks like a good solid starting 5
Rob Marsden & Mike Tuck off the bench
Pretty solid subs
Marco I think has played better lately when called on to spell players
And a couple of young guys Nathaniel / Josh / Sam seeing if they can work their way up
Getting another guard to fill the gap left by Sedale could make all the difference
But I think we’ll put a decent if not winning show tomorrow
I’m looking forward to this season with confidence

Wasn't that impressed with the Sharks in preseason when I saw them at the ECA and thought they would struggle this season but tbf to them they have looked pretty solid since and had a good start to the season.
Today will be a tough game, looks like Eagles will have a near sellout as last night was only 100 tickets left so lets get behind the team, be loud and create a great atmosphere which the players will feed off and get this win.
Don't like predictions so won't make one but hoping for an Eagles win.

Don't like predictions so won't make one but hoping for an Eagles win. Funny old statement. Not impressed pre season at ECA and thinking that Sharks would struggle. Yet we beat Newcastle in the return fixture at the EIS, pre season?? Both teams were players short, through either injury or not joining the team yet, for whatever reasons. I can remember thinking that the Sharks team at the EIS looked very bear and nothing like the team that would start the season. It's no wonder that we have looked better and stronger since then. I'm fully aware that Newcastle are full of game winning players; Glasgow Jnr & Fletcher alone. I'm hoping we have just enough to cope. Will be interesting. Whatever the result in this game , I would hope for better in the home game. A good home crowd at the ECA may be a big influence. Hopefully we have enough old heads in the team to help the others along. One good way would be to get a good start and a lead to hold. We could struggle chasing the game with their fans behind them, tough ask for anyone.

On the box office it's down to 25 single tickets and one pair together - so about as close to a sellout as you can assuming they made everything available and have good numbers in the VIP area.
