On a separate note the 550k worst case deaths predicted from coronavirus this year in UK compares to an average 500k deaths in UK every year from EVERY other reason for dying added together Good jobs to have right now? Pharmacist Doctor Nurse Vicars Funeral Directors (if funerals are allowed to happen) Funeral Directors!! That's awful but must admit put a smile on my face. In Italy funerals are currently banned

Things I've learned tonight:
Dunkster is a moron.
IRF is an expert on yet another thing.
Sam is going out.
Only 1 of these is a shock.

I agree the BBL and other sports organisations are not at fault here. They are quite rightly following the government advice. This advice is backed by our chief scientific and medical officers. I trust they know more about this than the BBL and they rest of us. Only time will tell if they are right and history will judge them and our country accordingly.

So much for following the advice of government. The EPL will be CANCELLED and I’m sure the FA will follow suit. Common sense prevails. Anyone still willing to stage sporting events open to the public will open themselves up to huge legal liability. Those are the facts!

Do you disagree ? I actually think Boris doesn't give a rats backside about individuals and cares only for the £ signs - so long as the FTSE doesn't fall through the floor I question how much he's bothered.
As for Cummings, he wouldn't be one to just idly surround himself with experts that sing to his tune now, would he? (He definitely would).
I personally am taking precautions over and above what he suggests, and I'd never trust a Tory as far as I could throw them. I'm sure you'll try and change my mind on that, but we (and I'm talking scousers here) have been burned by their negligence too many times before.

I guess the FTSE plan isn’t going too well then.....
I do still wonder whether we will have a Trophy final on Sunday, and given the steps taken elsewhere (particularly the States) whether half the players will want to be playing in one anyway. Don’t get me wrong, like Obama I love basketball, and would love to see the game, but there are (apparently) more important things.

Toilet roll wars. The country is on a mental knife edge. That's the bulldog spirit for you - panic buying toilet rolls and pasta.

All professional football in the country now halted until 3rd April. Seemed inevitable once the top clubs started announcing isolation measures for players and coaches. A rare moment of co-ordination among the many organisations too.
How long before BE and BBL follow suit.......?

Interestingly the Vitality Netball league (which is probably a good parallel to the BBL) are also carrying on playing. They play in similar arenas with similar sized crowds.

The fist confirmed cancellation in the NBL has now been announced (Bradford v Derby). As there is no suggestion that anyone involved in the game is symptomatic or has been tested positive I imagine this is the first indication that all games will be cancelled Basketball England's forthcoming statement. While I would hope that on such an issue BE and the BBL would take the same approach to such an issue it really wouldn't surprise me if they did not.Basketball England have now announced that all of their activities and games are cancelled for two weeks as of tomorrow morning. No mention of BBL in the statement but I imagine they'll issue their own any minute. www.basketballengland.co.uk/news/coronavirus-basketball-england-to-suspend-all-basketball-activity-for-two-weeks/

BBL says we are carrying on for this weekend. Cynic in me says would decision have been the same if there was no showcase final this weekend they weren't so heavily invested in! UPDATED 15:50 GMT 13 March 2020 The British Basketball League (BBL) continues to follow the current guidance of the Government and the chief medical and science advisers issued on 12 March 2020 with all games scheduled for this weekend (13-15 March 2020) taking place as planned. There are currently no suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 within BBL as has affected other sports. We encourage all fans planning to attend games to follow the optimum hygiene practices directed by the NHS including regularly washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and to self-isolate should you be experiencing any symptoms. You can find more advice from the NHS here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/The BBL and WBBL Trophy Finals will also take place on Sunday 15 March at Emirates Arena in Glasgow. Full handwashing facilities will be available at the arena and again, we encourage fans to take appropriate measures in line with NHS advice. We are closely monitoring what is a rapidly moving situation and should anything change, we will act accordingly and update everyone as soon as possible. So, just because there's no confirmed cases they play on? Seems a bit reckless.

So, just because there's no confirmed cases they play on? Seems a bit reckless. I think so as well. Probably weighing up the financial cost against the human cost... Basketball Scotland have suspended all basketball with immediate effect.
