Vince reckons they will have a "sell out" hahahahahah. I think he means he can sell nowt. Even if there were fans, then get ready to don a mask. Try telling the Lithuanian fans they aren't allowed to sing at the game!

Anyone who followed GB to Lithuania for EuroBasket 2011 will tell you just how mental they are for basketball. Even the friendly at the Copper Box three years (while Lions were sent to play at UEL) was pretty mental. It's a shame they didn't repeat that.

Any Lithuanian team playing in the UK will get an army of fans showing up, especially if it's in London. The Olympic basketball arena in London was a sea of green during the Olympics. Even when Rytas played in Brighton they had an army.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Šiauliai brought an army to Guildford Spectrum in 2008 but they made a right old racket!

Careful, you're starting to sound like INF. 'European Basketball' is a very generalist phrase though. If you're talking about most of the domestic leagues, especially the BBL, then with significantly reduced TV, ticket and sponsorship money they're absolutely going to struggle to operate. But if you're talking about the Euroleague then outside of the NBA they probably have the best chances of still operating at a profitable basketball league in the world right now. Euroleague and Basketball Champions League get decent TV money/coverage on the continent (which in turn helps sponsorship). Euroleague even gets coverage on NBA TV in the US. Both Euroleague and FIBA/BCL are not profitable businesses I'd challenge that. The Euroleague is considered one of the most popular indoor sports leagues in the world (with average attendances of almost 10,000 a game), and has been in operation (since the breakaway from FIBA) for 20 years. You're telling me it doesn't make any money?

Neptunas Klaipeda, from the little I know, are probably the toughest of the 4 possible teams. At times they've been considered one of the best teams in Europe. So a tough draw for Lions.
In normal circumstances I'd say at least them being a Lithuanian team the ticket revenue will be good. But I'm not even sure that'll be the case right now. I'm sort of expecting these qualifying games to be played behind closed doors.
Tough all round for Lions unfortunately.

While there may be some loss-making teams (Barca's crowds aren't great), they wouldn't have consistently increased the length of the regular season if games were losing money and nor would they have invited additional teams, leading to the TV money being diluted. But nothing outside the US of A is good enough for some people.

Widely known that Euroleague and BCL are loss making. The clubs would definitely not survive without the income derived from national games. Also, media money is slim with a Greek TV company providing almost half of Euroleague tv revenue. Also the fact that Turkish Airlines is in financial trouble, don’t bode well. They are paying players too much, playing too many games, and completing in the soccer season. Insurmountable proposition and post pandemic environment will make it even worse. Hersey, as far as attacking me for being American is a bit much dude. Chill bro just stating the facts.

I've not attacked him at all. I doubt he's even American, his whole "story" isn't even believable and has been fact-checked by someone on here. But following isthaturinal's little speech last week anyone who doesn't like other posters' opinion can just shout "bullying"

Interesting, should be a stern test. I'm not totally clued up on Basketball over there, more their football teams, or rather ones who've played Scottish teams.
