Thanks for the links. The comments on the owners lack of communication and engagement are worrying.

It’s over for Raiders. The new owners are already turning their backs on the club.

Honestly I see raiders going but if they do they are such a big club they would be back in the bbl within 5 years!! I hope we can sort a venue for then!!

When you read that article the Pavilions aren't the bad guys During the pandemic last season the venue only charged Raiders minimal costs to help the club and the club haven't even paid those despite the Govt support and to the detriment of the venue And despite repeated attempts from the Venue the Raiders owners have refused to enter meaningful negotiations etc It's bleak reading to say the least

Hopefully there is some negotiating posturing going on, but it sounds horribly like a 9 team 32 match league next season, with Bristol travelling to Surrey for a "local derby" !

"Supporters of the club, and all those in Plymouth who value the Pavilions as an entertainment resource and events venue, may well share our disappointment that despite numerous assurances, the Raiders and their owners have failed to reimburse us for the much-reduced match day costs, leaving the Pavilions exposed to further losses." She simply couldn't say the above if it wasn't true and that says it all to me tbh you can't spin something like that Pat It's hard to take the high ground and complain about the proposed new costs when the club haven't even paid last season's vastly reduced costs That's nothing more than embarrassing tbh And an abuse of the Govt financial support they've received

Many businesses have just taken Govt support for 18 months knowing they are likely no longer viable. They've taken on loans/debt and used Covid as an excuse to not pay outstanding bills etc they cannot afford Reality is there may be more unviable BBL clubs still to emerge which clubs haven't said or done much lately ? Other than the usual social media tweets etc?

Not embarrassing at all.
All it does is emphasise the major factor holding the sport and the league back. Lack of club owned venues.
Having owners pop in from outside is always the start of a slippery slope. Plymouth no different to what we have seen going all the way back to the 80s. Shiny new toy. Get bored with it. Goodbye.

Note that, unlike Wolves, they're looking to return. Probably at the pavilions when they fail to fill those dates....

I think the Raiders owners have done a great job of ruling up the masses against the pavilions. But it is not like the lack of venues is a surprise. The fact that it has got to this is the disgrace and that does not fall on the pavilions. It falls on crap organisation

Ah man, feel awful for Plymouth fans. I can't imagine how you guys must be feeling at the moment.
Can't see how this is just a venue thing when you look at the team they put together last year. I've always been wary of outside 'megabucks' investors when it comes to sports clubs. A connection with the area or a deep passion for basketball is what is required for that job, otherwise when hard times arrive it's dead easy to just chuck in the towel.
I genuinely hope this isn't the end for the Raiders.

The batteries in the shiny toy ran out of juice and instead of changing them, they throw it away and blame something else.

With Copper Box closing for major work next season will be interesting to see where London play - possibly the Uni?
Could Solent move to BBL to avoid only the 9 teams? (Or Worthing)?
