So there isn't a genuine rival bid, just nba after more money. Pretty odd negotiating position from the NBA

Shame shame shame. I've dropped Sky Sports because I could get college hoops and football, plus the NBA from BT Sport, and my NFL fix on the Sky Mix Channel throughout the season.
(PS if you think NFL is bad, I give you bloody Football. every flippin' channel, 24/7, glorying in a bunch of wingeing overpaid prima donnas who apparently find it hard to even pass the team brain-cell accurately. Summed up for me in this internet irony: "Childbirth - invented so ladies can feel the pain Neymar goes through when he's tackled".
Guess we all like different things... but I digress)
Went to Eurosport Player (cycling, Skiing)after their last year's fall-out with Sky: so guess I'll follow that route with League Pass for the NBA. It's all so unnecessarily complicated...

Just going back to Vince Carter, article on espn today has him saying he isn't interested in chasing rings, he wants to chase minutes and still play! Guess he'd rather be out there than riding the pine hoping for a free ring. Not sure it's going to be in the Hawks interests to play him much though, as they need to develop their young guys and plan for the future, which Vince won't be part of.

As we're not going to have a WNBA thread (it would make the old NBA board look positively over-used), I'll post this strange tale here.

Ref the Aces Hersey - as I understand it, from ESPN feeds and PTI/RTH: they'd been on the road / in the airport for 26 hours; they were not allowed to get a charter plane - to ensure all WNBA teams are kept to a strict 'fairness' budget, everyone must travel by commercial airline (admittedly the rule was relaxed but not in time for it to make a difference) and my interpretation of this 'strike' was that it was to highlight the difference between the mens' and womens' game. Having said all that, the forfeit meant that the whole trip was pointless anyway. Did the ticket holders get a raw deal? Apparently the Mystics did refund all pre-paid tickets, and let's face it, you've been on the road for 26 hours, you're not going to give of your best - in the office or on a basketball court - so I doubt the spectacle would have been all that edifying anyway.
I do find it odd they couldn't postpone by 24 hours, make it a free game to anyone who could get there, or come to some arrangement. It wasn't like the Aces had a minibus breakdown, this was serious delay time, and out of their hands.
However. I don't agree with not playing: I'm with you on that. They should have put something on the floor. But if nothing else it has got the country (and those of us further afield) aware of and talking about the travel issues and disparity between men and women (I also see it reported that the men get 50% of the NBA revenue in salaries, the rest going to the owner and running costs: the women's salaries only account for 25%...). So not all bad to get these sort of things as headlines on the sports channel / talk shows.
Then again, perhaps being on the receiving end of a 100 point blow-out might have had the same impact.

So obviously we disagree, but as you say, it turns out not playing games get the WNBA talked about. Shame it appears to be the only way that happens.

Was going to give Manu a thread of his own because he deserves it, but just thought I'd point out his retirement.
A fantastic player and a career filled with winning. Always got the impression he sacrificed anything he could have done individually for the good of the team (not unlike many of his teammates down the years) and he got his reward. Truly brilliant player.
Has to be in the conversation for best non north American to ever play the game?

Really pleased for Deng. Was wondering if he may even go to a euroleague team? Some good money to be had there but equally he’d be a good signing for a number of NBA teams, including Spurs, Mavs and Rockets.
Agree with Hersey on West. One tough hombre who might have been the last old fashioned 4 in the league. A perfect fit for the Warriors and a surprisingly good passer.
I’m guessing Dirk and Vince will both bow out at end of next season so definitely a real end of a generation feel.
Plenty of talent left to keep us all happy though

I understand if I get a Chrome stick thingy then it has the app so I can watch on my TV without the need to hook up laptop. so paying for BT sport (big rugby fan), sky sports as son loves wwe and also footie and league pass for NBA....not to forget Amazon Prime for various reason the wife assured me are totally valid. Welcome to the modern world of “ choice”...........hmmm

I think you'll love League Pass Connors - I tried it one year and haven't looked back. With TV you only get to see the games they select, and they usually show 4 or 5 teams far too much and others not at all. Plus if the game is a blowout or just sucks, then you wish they'd shown something else. With LP you can choose what to watch from everything. The shortened highlight packages are my favourite thing as you can watch several games in brief that way. And yes, I have a ROKU stick and can watch it on my TV now with that, which meant last season was even better having LP.

How much do people in the uk pay for nba TV (all games) and this stick?
