Cartwright, Wright and Scott look like excellent acquisitions. Add a fully fit Chuku and Walker and it looks like a formidable team. Most excited I have been about the start of a season for two or three years. And still room for another US import, another Brit and another Euro player (if we need them) The future is bright

OK "old" Riders fans,
a) who was that quote describing? b) what was the name of the Leicester Mercury reporter who penned it?

"And still room for another US import, another Brit and another Euro player (if we need them)."
Of course you won't need them. With this current squad Riders will bestride the world, achieving yet another clean sweep. The only race worth watching for the remainder of the season is the race for second place in everything.
Oh, and by my reckoning, you've just signed your third import player, who may turn out great but his college stats weren't quite up to Holder's.

I think the battle for 4th and 5th between Rocks and Eagles might be a good one as well tbf

Apparently he's not signing after all Probably for the best judging by some Slovenian fans comments about him after they caught wind of him leaving... “Lindsay je bila grozna. Izboljšati ga bo enostavno”. Lindsay was awful. It will be easy to upgrade/improve (on him). “Ni veliko prispeval. Večino iger sem pozabil, da je bil tam.” He didn't contribute much. Most games I forgot he was there (playing).

Strange, bearing in mind they must have had a glowing reference from Cartwright who played with him for all four years at Providence!

So what’s the real story about Jalen Lindsey?
Announced in the press and two days later he’s not coming?
The announcement wouldn’t have been made unless he had signed. So has he got a better offer and ratted on the deal to go elsewhere?
Or did Riders change their minds within 48 hours, which would seem a bit odd. And, if so, how does Cartwright feel about that?
And Riders in PR lockdown over it.
All a bit odd.

Who cares really I'm sure whoever we bring in will be as good if not better than him Maybe Holder or Tim Williams have changed their mind and want to come back! Imagine that!!

According to the "Leicester Mercury" on 29 August, Riders were still processing Lindsey's visa.

If true, this one would set a record of having been cut before he arrives. And if he does arrive it will be great for him o know how expendable he apparently is.

IRF not the only one registering some impressive scores on the 'Bullometer' at the moment. Incredible how desperate some seem to be to make a big issue out of every little thing that happens at Riders. If the Lindsey deal has fallen through it was clumsy of the Mercury and our website to announce the signing before it was across the line. Not sure there's really a whole lot else to say about it though. Probably not a season defining moment this, whatever's happened.

Worth noting that Jalen Lindsey has now disappeared off the Riders roster on Eurobasket (admittedly, not 100% reliable) so maybe he isn't joining. That would leave Riders with 9 confirmed signings and one vacant import slot (plus a EU spot if they want to use it). Anyone know what the plan is?

I believe the cup games starting the first weeks of the season mean riders are happy to play their way into the season and see what if anything they may need to add as we go along. We have a strong squad already. But we clearly have the budget to add to it as well where and when needed. You know Rob wont be content unless he's challenging for every trophy and he will know what it takes to do so.

Riders sign... Ella Clark, for their WBBL team! Nice to see her back in the sport: www.mvp247.com/2019/09/clark-hoops-comeback/But I also wanted to share it for this little comment, which made me laugh: “Clark will feature for the Riders in tandem with turning out in semi-popular recreational hobby, netball, for Loughborough.“
