So in the report this morning on Kaiâs signing announcement it said he completes our roster, and now with Fab leaving and that confirming he of course wonât be playing that leaves us with an 11 man roster as opposed to 12 as we thought was going to be the case. Would have liked us to have gone with a 12 man roster for the first time in a while and surely we must have the budget, especially now Fab has gone. Do we think despite the report saying our roster is complete we might see one more signing, I hope so but not convinced. The timing of this leaving announcement simply does not make sense. I get the impression he did intend to stay this season but has changed his mind at a late stage. Nick Nurse hasn't waited til now to offer him the job. He's had the offer since July at least.

Nick Nurse hasn't waited til now to offer him the job. He's had the offer since July at least. Wrong. Well let me reword that. Having now read the Eagles website the Eagles management team knew there was an opportunity for Fab to move to Canada and actively encouraged Fab to pursue it. I've cut and paste in the other thread. It reads to me like eagles have actually driven this move more than Fab has

Honestly mate you've been very wide of the mark on a number of occasions regarding Fab and what you think you know/don't know about what he's like as a coach and I've bitten my tongue, but you're completely out of your mind on this one.
I'll put it in context for you - the BBL, despite what people would have you believe, is one of the smallest and looked down upon leagues in Europe if not the world. For anyone to go from here straight to the NBA is nothing short of a miracle - a bit less so in the unsustainable arena days but certainly these days no matter who you know or whatever.
Do you honestly think that any team in this league would a) be able to stop anyone going to the NBA or b) be so twisted as to try and stop them taking the opportunity of any basketball player/coach's lifetime? If the answer is anything but no you're completely wrong.
Oh, and in this context Nick Nurse brought Fab to the BBL - you make it sound as if the Raptors didn't tell Fab but approached the club first - again wrong.
As a side note - Fab's left for a player development role on an NBA champion team. Can't develop players though.

Have you read the quotes on the Eagles website yet bigz? Fab was planning to stay the season. The Eagles management team encouraged him to go and pursue the opportunity Eagles are free to change that article Before I read it I speculated what might have happened in my mind. When I read it then it all added up IMO

You honestly believe that Eagles wouldn't wish nothing but the best to a coach who has given them absolute 100% loyalty and commitment for nearly two decades when the offer of a lifetime comes his way? An offer that any other BBL coach could only dream of getting (yes, including Rob P).
Fab has turned down a number of offers from elsewhere during his time with Newcastle. The Eagles have been lucky to have him for as long as they have and nobody knows that more than the Eagles' management.
Your posts are getting more and more ridiculous and frankly it's embarrassing. I thought it couldn't get worse but then I see that you're trying to argue your point with Dave after he told you that you're wrong. But don't let the fact that Dave has known and worked with Fab for years stop you... Thank you for the reminder of why me and many other long time posters have moved away from this forum.

I've said my bit Mike. The quotes from Fab suggest to me he came back to stay. And it was the Eagles owners who actively encouraged Fab to pursue opportunities with Nick Nurse. Maybe Fab is saying that purely because he doesn't want Eagles fans to think he wanted to leave himself? All I have said is this move suits both parties right now. And everybody at Eagles is getting their knickers in a twist. They would like a perfect world where you daren't suggest stuff like that ? I've already said to Dave to set the record straight and I will just accept whatever he says as being gospel in the other thread. The rest of you can make your own minds up about what happened. Of course Eagles can't compete with NBA but Fab's comments to me suggest without the intervention of Dave and Paul - Fab wouldn't have pursued his chances at Raptor (this season at least) I believe that is fair comment based on the article on eagle's website? Sorry if that upsets anyone.

You've entirely misquoted what I have said there I've said the move suits both sides and based on Fabs comments Eagles actively encouraged Fab to pursue a full time role with Raptors That's a lot different to not standing in his way when an offer is made And you know it So if you want to have a go at me - then please don't try to twist what I am saying If you were quoting me correctly I would agree with you. But you aren't. Simple as that Mike. You know how sport works and you know what I am saying. And Fabs own quotes back up what I am saying. I've given Dave the chance to comment on those quotes. And so far he has declined.

"As a side note - Fab's left for a player development role on an NBA champion team. Can't develop players though." đ He's incredibly dedicated and a fitness freak and so disciplined himself. There's a lot that any sportsperson could learn from him in that respect. No doubt at all. A huge role model. So whatever else he does for Raptors in the future you can understand why Nurse would want him in amongst his players.

I think that Fab has the experience, knowledge and skills to improve players. Eagles didn't achieve all that they have without Fab's strategy. It was because he was there that they prospered. Nurse could take his pick of assistant coaches. He sees that Fab can contribute to his team's performance.

There was no offer but Dave and Paul suggested there might be an opportunity for him to get an offer? That's all pretty straightforward to me You've been in sport all your life. You know what happens behind closed doors and how conversations go.

Not strictly a signing, but something that got a bit lost in Fabâs big news... Eagles did a soft reveal of their new kit before yesterdayâs game - looks like the blank and white stripes are gone, replaced with a motif that evokes the cladding/signage on the new arena.

So it's confirmed that John Mitchell isn't here today and may not be coming in newcastle-eagles.com/news/schlitzer-sets-sights-on-sharks/'As things stand Schlitzer wonât be joined by John Mitchell with the US import still grounded in his native New York. Newcastle announced the forwardâs signing earlier this summer but personal problems could now prevent a move to the Eagles. âWe have been in constant contact with John for the past fortnight and he wonât be joining us this weekend.â said the clubâs managing director Paul Blake.'
