Drew back in town. Just saying Has a house with his family so of course they would come back home and also has commitments with Gateshead College as he’s the head coach of the boys team. Although I would expect him to sign for the Eagles as long as he’s not retiring though nothing is certain so we will see. Only weeks now till preseason starts so I would expect a lot of player announcements over the coming days.

Please let it be Jamaal, just to keep INF happy.

Italian passport. So he doesn't have to be US import quality.
Hopefully some Surrey fans can pass judgement on him

Lazy recruitment (said INF).
Looking forward to seeing him in action. All I can remember is that he could shoot!

I can't remember him from Surrey either but his numbers look good, especially from 3. Have we finally found our Scott Martin replacement?

I'd be happy with 75% of Scott, especially since he isn't filling an import slot (and I can't wait to see who the final import will be either).

Shocked by this signing to say the least!
I thought he was exceptionally poor when at the Scorchers- so much so that I was surprised he lasted the season. Wasn’t mobile on D and was extremely inconsistent.
As far as I remember, Surrey didn’t offer him a contract for a second year- that in itself says a lot. The only plus is that he doesn’t take up an ‘import’ slot. Perhaps he’s improved since his Scorchers days, but his improvement will have to be huge!
I expect Eagles to be challenging Riders this season, but when comparing their two EU passport guards, there’s absolutely no competition.

Music to my ears His stats sound better than you describe him. But I hope you are correct.

Most times I describe lazy recruitment I'm thinking of a proven, quality signing that's an obvious quality signing to make - albeit perhaps costing a bit of money as they are proven Not sure this guy fits the bill. He certainly doesn't if Bosh is correct

He’ll be able to knock down some open threes- but will be relying on solid offensive set plays and Fletch’s vision to do that. As I said before, unless he’s made seriously significant improvement (in all fairness, it has been a while since he last played in the BBL), I wouldn’t expect much more from him. The quote where it said ‘ability to handle the ball’ in particular tickled me. Remember when he played PG for Surrey it made for very painful viewing. The saying ‘square peg in a round hole’ comes to mind.

I expect Eagles to be challenging Riders this season, but when comparing their two EU passport guards, there’s absolutely no competition. Only time will tell, but Schlitzer has had solid seasons in Georgia and Sweden since being with Surrey so I'm hopeful! To be honest I don't think either Schlitzer or Hoe Scott (to Leicester) feel look real season-changers. For a 31 year old, Scott has only three seasons which even make it onto the RealGM stats and played two of those for the bottom club in Germany Pro B before appearing last year in Austria for a newly promoted team and doing very well. He may turn out to be the next best thing since Flopadini, but that may be optimistic (OK, last year he shot 40% from the 3-line but in Germany he got nowhere near that). But both could be key cogs in very effective squads. We have seen much of what Leicester have assembled for the season ahead, and it looks very good. My sense is that Newcastle need to spring a surprise or two to be in the mix - hopefully they are about to do that.
