Hopefully you all enjoy these and maybe it inspires others to bring forward any information they have to fill in the gaps and we can finally produce our Rothmans of British Basketball.
By the way Hersey I think you were looking for The Cups, Trophies, Patrons and Shield as well. Being honest back when I started all this in 2007 I did try to include them but found it got a bit tedious especially the large cups and trophies and kind of gave up (not that adding up the 00-01 div 2 and 3 results manually was tedious enough lol). I deleted those chapters and decided to concentrate on just league tables and play off results. But I can try and help if you like when I next get some time. Thing is though I stupidly threw out my complete set of tip offs a few years ago. I remember they had a complete set of NBL Trophy 1999-2000 results, which are no longer locatable on the web, so I wouldnt be as much help as I once would have been

Yeah, it's mental. I wrote about it last week. It took two parts (here and here) and that was just Division One since Leopards left the BBL. Part of the problem is that BE will let virtually any club into NBL and if they have a decent group of players they quickly move up the divisions and have no infrastructure in place when they hit the big time (sarcasm alert). I do wonder how many were on the brink before Covid and will be pushed over the edge.
If you're into history, the third part of Leopards' went live today. Writing it is keeping me sane. Well, fairly.

Hi
Like Hersey with Leopards, I've also been working on history for Derby Trailblazers senior men's team.
I'm currently missing all results for the first two seasons 2003/04 and 2004/05, both of which were in D3 North.
I'm also missing Trophy / Patron's Cup and National Cup results for 2005/06 and 2006/07 if we entered them (I recall Clarence wasn't keen on knock out competitions before such times as clubs were forced to enter them).
In addition, I can't find National Cup results for 2007/08, but I'm pretty sure we must have entered, as that was our first season in division one.
Can any help?
Must just say a quick thank you to SM11, whose above posts have helped me to find a few play-off results that I didn't have from the early years. I did try Wayback Machine to access Pawprint and Britball, but didn't find anything meaningful.
Thanks in anticipation.

So I wonder if anyone can fill any of the gaps from those documents
Im concentrating on completing a full set of league tables from the twentieth century. The gaps are as follows...
Mens 2nd Tier seasons...
77-78, 78-79, 79-80, 81-82, 82-83
Mens 3rd Tier seasons...
88-89, 89-90, 90-91, 92-93, 93-94, 94-95, 95-96
Womens 1st Tier seasons...
Everything between 77-78 to 95-96 inclusive
If any one has anything that would be huge.
Also there is a massive question mark on my Mens Division 1 table from 1977-1978. So please if anyone can confirm that one again i would be forever grateful
Also im on the hunt for any play off results from 97-98 and all seasons before for Mens below Top tier and Womens Top tier. I have found some on various websites but my records are very bare.

Have you contacted Roger Yapp or John Atkinson?

No I havent, this thread is literally the first time Ive asked for info. I know John Atkinson from staying with him at Eurobasket 2011, I wonder if he remembers lol. I dont know Roger Yapp but i think they were both behind the old BBL media guides from late 90s early 2000s and also behind the Statsman website from the 2000s (possibly). I should drop them an email sometime.

I dont know Roger Yapp but i think they were both behind the old BBL media guides from late 90s early 2000s and also behind the Statsman website from the 2000s (possibly). I should drop them an email sometime. Roger Yapp certainly had copies of individual Division 1 game stats in the early 80's and probably the 70's as well. If he still has them and somebody wanted to collate the data (manually of course!) there would be access to some great early British Basketball History. Potentially would provide the evidence to the Guildford/Blackpool 9th place conundrum in 80-81 for example. I haven't checked out many of sm11's links yet so might be duplicating a bit here, but Roger did at one point have a website hosted by somebody like Tesco's with an early history of the National Leagues. The info may have originated from Pete Jacques at Pawprint, or maybe a joint effort between Pete and Roger. Would certainly recommend (like Hersey) to ask Roger what great info he may still have from some of those early days of the 70's and 80's. Pawprint was really special in the 80's. Receiving the weekly (or was it fortnightly?) Pawprint in the post was really exciting. Back then we got the top division results on Teletext. All the broadsheets had a summary of the weekend matches as well as the results alongside the football, racing results etc on either a Monday or Tuesday. I got kicked out of a few newsagents reading through the papers on the shelves! We had Basketball Monthly which was great, but Pete expanding his Doncaster Panthers fanzine to a national fanzine was a terrific success. Pre-internet the content was very fresh. It was from a personal perspective, but he didn't let his Doncaster bias negatively impact his publication. He got the balance spot on showing respect for all teams. Going "national" co-incided with Doncaster falling back from being one of the top sides in England.

Hi SM11, I wonder if you could help again - I'm told our first season for senior men was actually 2002/03.
I've tried fiddling with the URL's you provided within Wayback Machine, but I can't find details for that season.
And the Fixtures Live site doesn't seem to have D3 for that season either.
Any thoughts?

What do people think about how we keep this info do we leave it as it is in the thread, make a new thread and maybe have it pinned or would a sub forum be better or is that likely to go unviewed? I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as it's certainly an excellent piece.
