Game day. It's here! Solent Kestrels vs USA select, 6.30pm Solent Sports Complex. Also we face NBL D2 side Newham Academy this Saturday and BBL Surrey Scorchers the following week to round out pre-season. I'm hopeful we can have another good season. I think Hemel will be big challengers while Reading look stronger and Nottingham MUCH stronger. I've not noticed anything about Reading, who have they announced?

A.J Basi, Tyler Cartaino, Ben Dixon, Meshack Lufile, Sam Toluwase and Leome Francis. I've heard they have signed Lewis Champion from Thames Valley but unconfirmed. Of course, it's all a matter of opinion if you think they are stronger. We beat the USA Select team 102-91 after OT. It was clear the team need a bit of work on chemistry and the opposition certainly looked fitter but we got the job done. The new additions are all going to help us. Kemel Archer is going to be fun to watch...

Dave the blog is looking like a platform for Derby. The world exists outside of the seat mods... Simply because we send our material to Dave...if other clubs did the same, I'm sure he'd use their material too!

Gloucester pull out of d3, something about not being able to afford the ridiculous price of licenses for settled Europeans

The new lot? They think they're going to run a BBL side but they can't afford 2 or 3 import licences? How can this go wrong?

I haven't got time to trawl through all the websites, I'm happy to publicise any D1 club who wants it. I was a bit surprised about Bothwick's comment. I'm not exactly spamming the board and it is D1 news. As previously mentioned, I'm not sure about the blog's future, anyway. I can think of nothing to write today.

Will they even get as high as finishing seventh in D1 and losing at Leopards in the play-offs? Or being able to be vaguely competitive in the BBL? This is all a bit farcical. They've gone from being ready to step into the breach to replace Plymouth/Worcester to being unable to spend a grand or two on (some admittedly overpriced) licences

We (feels weird to say we now I have a “club” again) have an Open Day for the shiny new court D2 City of Birmingham Rockets have now this Saturday, if anyone wants to check it out. Looks incredible.
Showcase of the youth, women’s and senior men’s teams. More details I presume will follow.

As I've said it's about time Birmingham was back on the basketball map. I'll be watching the progress...

Kestrels have announced that Reis Pinnock has left the club a month after joining. I have no idea what's behind this. Perhaps he felt his court time would be limited by our abundance of guard players. May be a non basketball reason, who knows...
