It’s true I am a keen Instagram(er) do you follow me MrTall? I would agree entirely, if not even older demographic which backs your approach to advertisement more. I guess one thing and only as a business owner myself, newspaper advertising is insanely expensive, I wanted to run a half page spread for 4 prints (one per week) and it was around £300 I would have required 10 new members just to break even, so can fully understand not running newspaper ads simply due to upfront cash required. Tbh there isn’t a right way for this club to continue. Atm they are damned if they do damned if they don’t. Poor squad, losses games. Last years had a wonderful squad, went bust. I think though everyone on this a thread, wither we argue and disagree all loved the raiders, and want that love in some format to continue onwards Quite a good summary that. Do we try and help that format to continue by buying in to Patriots or waiting to see what happens with whoever has bought the beloved Raiders out of liquidation? It’s so hard and one I know isn’t shared…. For me I’m a Plymouth raiders fan, not a Plymouth Patriots fan. It’s no different being say a Bristol city fan, the team going bust and not then just supporting Rovers! That being said, if the Raiders relocate, which they will, Plymouth isn’t about to have 2 BBL teams, then my love would not follow them. I wouldn’t be able to support the Birmingham Raiders (this is where my money is btw) so I just feel totally in limbo.

Of course it's different to City versus Rovers. Raiders and Patriots never played each other, and never will. It's an utterly absurd analogy.
If Raiders still exist, they don't own a BBL franchise. It's over.
You seem determined to not support Patriots out of some misguided loyalty to Raiders. It's your choice, but I can't see what you hope to achieve.

Late Wednesday games aren’t helping fill seats either. It’s to late for fans with young children so they will just watch the games for free at home when the babies & toddlers are in bed.

For a club that has been around since 1983, where are all the older children and adults that should be in those seats because the city has developed a cult basketball following? Or is that the real legacy, a basketball club that was really just an alternative to CBeebies?

Hersey, I do have a loyalty to the Raiders!!! I spent god know how much time and money supporting them, I even played against them at youth national league level, I have no loyalty to the pats… you are quite the argumentative person, as mentioned above we are all raiders fans at heart, but you seem very much intent on just putting people down!!! You please go and be the biggest pats fan out there, good to see how your love for a club can be so transferable

Where is the basketball infrastructure in Plymouth in general? Or were people really just that infatuated with 3pm on a Sunday and nothing else?

Or were people really just that infatuated with 3pm on a Sunday and nothing else? There’s clearly basketball fans in Plymouth, the raiders where very well followed even in times of loss after loss, any major finals, fans attended well…. Maybe a late Wednesday night, just doesn’t suit the basketball demographic, families etc. We all know how temperamental start up BBL teams are, maybe people are cautious about spending money on it? Maybe even pure basketball fans aren’t wanting to see huge one sided loses. I watched the Riders, pats game today and can’t say it was well attended!!! People didn’t even want to watch their team potentially destroy another team

This team maximises the sum of its parts as best it can. There's soemthing really pure about that. You cannot coach effort, you can only ask for it. What I do mind is that if I don't pay to watch this year, I am inextricably linked to the possibility that I won't be afforded the same opportunity to watch our own city's, or other teams' talent in 12 month's time. That doesn't sit well with me. And I'm definitely not travelling to Bristol...

I’ll be making the trip in 2 weeks for our home game vs Newcastle, nice 150 mile round trip as yep I can not feel like i was responsible for the team not being in existence next year, maybe by then I will be a fully fledged pats fan lol…

It does come across like if anyone shows any support towards Raiders they get slammed down by some people. Of course people can support both but it shows that fan "loyalty" for those who easily transferred over and are signing and dancing about Patriots and only have negative things to then say about Raiders.

The statement of affairs in relation to Plymouth Raiders 1983 Ltd from the liquidator makes sobering reading.
£839,888.78 deficit, £161,882.00 of which is owed to HMRC.
Unreal. The size of ineptitude is staggering.

It's essentially the creditors amount - given it's a small company the accounts are abridged, so a reader can't rely on the P&L or notes to the accounts for additional information. Assuming therefore a like for like look at creditors in the last filed accounts these totalled c.£377,000 on 31st May 2020. That's quite some IOU.

It's not possible to support the Raiders though, it's gone and the only thing left to have loyalty to is basketball in Plymouth. I think that's why people from outside Plymouth become impatient with Raiders fans digging their heels in. I can see why it's emotive for Riaders fans but it's essentially a logo, colour scheme and someone in a suit. Ultimately it's bigger than what the name in the Jersey is. If the Patriots aren't backed by the basketball community in Plymouth this year, then that could be it. It really is that fragile. I can only speak as someone at the other end of the country, but I'd hate to lose a town with that sort of history from top level basketball.

Can you support a club that doesn’t exist? Seems an odd concept, like saying you support the London City Royals. I don’t think anyone in Plymouth wanted this to happen, but the reality is it has. So the options as I see them are: 1) basketball in Plymouth, in which case the Patriots need all the support they can get, or 2) no basketball in Plymouth.

This is all a bit childish, the way you're acting it's as if Patriots actively killed off Raiders. Some other thoughts, even a mention of God Foxy, but you'd probably be better off spending your time supporting a non-existent team. I'll be using the non-existent "ignore" button for this thread, now, frankly some of the comments are beyond ridiculous and it's no wonder some people can't take pro basketball in this country seriously.

Raiders and the development side have always been separate. We still have our junior national league as Plymouth Basketball Club

Clearly not…. Dumb question…. The reason people can’t take our league seriously is because so many teams come and go, Sheffield right now is attracting 200+ people!!! This team once was a huge pull!!! I’ve seen you argument with people before, and I myself think your an idiot!!! Again my loyalty can not be transferred to the next team in Plymouth!!! I though in fact am driving 150 miles to show my support a week Sunday, paying my hard earned money into British basketball, we can meet and continue this discussion if you would like?!!
