Wait, so this whole thing is because someone swore at a basketball game? Its no fun when you put it like that. But the C word was involved (allegedly) Hard to confirm due to the noise of the drum

So... this is going to be my last comment on this matter.
I personally think that this whole incident has been due to misunderstandings that have blown up into something its not, and I think that is true on both sides.
I have admitted that I get passionate at games, and I love my club and basketball, and on the occasion discussed I did use a word that maybe some people find offensive (knobhead). Personally, I don't find that word that offensive, but we are all different. Also, it was not used in an aggressive manner, far from it, it was said in a jokey way.
For me, I forgive people for the odd digression, if I was sat next to somebody who swore and was aggressive all game, I would also complain, but if its once then I will let it pass. I just assumed others would have the same opinion.
I did feel the way the complaint was worded on here made it sound like I was an aggressive and vile person, that certainly isn't me, and I needed to make sure that people were aware that this wasn't/isn't the case.
I have offered the olive branch to the Phoenix, I would be more than willing to put all this behind me and move on. Life it too short and ultimately we all love basketball.
The ball is in their court now, I would be happy to shake and make up if they are willing.

I have been asked by the club not to comment of this thread but I feel a few things need to be addressed;
As Nix fans we do not go snooping through other clubs fans pages. We were alerted to comments asking if they were about one of us which lead us to look. This was intact true and I have screen shots of these comments.
Fans from every team shout comments during the game, however, these are clean comments as there are children around. I am more than guilty for shouting but I do not swear. The fact is two words were spoken in the presence of children loud enough to be heard. One line I believe was ‘CJ jump your fat c**t.’ So if this has lead to part of the reason of the ban I am glad as it means children in our arena will not be subjected to hearing more. We are basketball fans not football hooligans.
It angers me that people can speak so bad of Ole after everything she did for this forum and her many friends around the league.
Yes we may have had a checkered past but we are still here because of our amazing community of fans and volunteers of which I am very proud to be part of.

I wasn't going to comment again, but now I have to. The club need to be aware that the person making the complaint has said in this very thread that I didn't say the c word. So im struggling to see how that is related to any ban. I also find it odd why a giants fan would be having a go at CJ for not jumping, is it not possible this was either misheard, or actually came from a nix fan?

I think you need to look towards your own club regarding folk speaking bad of ole. Can you please also clarify if you and/or the club are stating that Ben called someone a cnt? The suggestion keeps being made that *someone* said it. Unless someone is willing to clarify who said it then people will continue to infer that Ben did it. Inadvertent or not, the posts so far have tarred Ben with that brush. If he did not say it or it's inconclusive then that should be made very clear.

So.. A recap for those joining us late. Apparently back in January, I may or may not have called a ref a knobhead. However, nothing was said to me and I wasn't banned, and in fact attended a game at Phoenix vs Royals. At that game there was a misunderstanding, to which Mike Burton called and text me (how he got my number is still being investigated) and stated that if I didn't apologise I would be banned. I did what was asked. However today I was informed I was banned for my abusive behaviour.. At that game above, which wasn't at the Phoenix and to which I wasn't banned before the Royals game. So make your own minds up why im banned. In conclusion your friend who dropped the C Bomb should also be holding his hand up to apologise. But from what I can tell he’s nowhere to be seen or backing you up. Unlike Nix fans who are sticking together. Great fellow fans you have their Ben. Seem they are too busy making memes. YOU stated here that i didn't use the c word, so why does it keep getting raised? My friend also denies it, so please provide some evidence.

Labelling somebody a hooligan as they swore (allegedly) and gave the ref some stick (probably deservedly- they are refs) is hilarious.
If you come to Glasgow you can sit next me Ben. I canny go drums and air horns either (next to me - fine at the other end of the arena which is why I chose my seat where I did) and my wee boy is at primary school so he probably knows more swear words than you and will not be traumatised if you get carried away.
And if players don’t want to be called fat well they’re professionals. They’ve got awe day to train, get aff the pies and in the gym.

It angers me that people can speak so bad of Ole after everything she did for this forum and her many friends around the league. . I missed that bit. I am the only person who's made any comment that you may not like about Ole. I'll stick to my views. Her time as Admin on here saw many decisions made based purely on her own likes and dislikes. That a director of a BBL club was Admin for this board was wrong in every way, and her decision to close the board for a fortnight to prevent people discussing yet another clusterfck of dodgy-ness at Cheshire was a disgraceful abuse of power. But her treatment by your club (her club) was also nothing short of an absolute disgrace and the fact that you stood by and watched someone you claim as a friend be treated like that speaks volumes about you. And, frankly, it's far more offensive than any swearword uttered at a basketball game.

Even IF (I'm not saying they did) someone did swear at the Giants game, why have the Giants not deemed fit to ban them but Nix have? Paints my club in a very petty light with a grudge sadly.
It's like me starting a fight in The Red Lion and Wetherspoons banning me.

Come to Newcastle we regular call one of our own players fat (easy to work out which one). Not too bothered about our drum it is well enough away from my seat that it doesn't bother me but the bloody air-horn that the table set off, well I know where I would like to stick that. Will now get a ban from the ECA or more likely from Nix for hinting at violence.

I thought he was the mascot or somebody that won a competition in Greggs to be a player for the day. I’m all for a having a section for the drummers and horn blowers. Batter in. Just not right in my ear.

I love this thread - just when you think its about to die someone pops with a new incendiary device....it has kept me entertained through several lunch breaks ("Several" because I am also a fat c**t)
Being quite new back to basketball I had no idea of all this behind the scenes intrigue - I need to buy someone a beer to get me up to speed.

"I shout at the refs all the time but never swear" Whats makes shouting at a ref without swearing any better?
I see & hear people all the time at Nix shout long streams of abuse toward the refs. Just because they don't swear it doesn't make it any less disrespectful.
Calling a ref's integrity into question is out of order whether or not you curse. Plus with children around, "dear god, think about the children" it also encourages them to show disrespect when they play or spectate.
Those actions are much worse than the swear words themselves, kids already know plenty of swear words but they follow the actions of elders.
