Having a single ‘game day’ thread for each day’s action this season? Fine with me, it should be slightly less effort to maintain for yourself ko25.
As for the games themselves… you’ve got to love the opening night (and weekend) – new line-ups make predicting the winners much more difficult! But I’ll predict wins for Rocks, Flyers, Lions, Riders and Eagles.

That's what I'm hoping so we'll give it a go if it goes to a mess we can change back but seemed like a nice idea on the ideas thread and one for each game does tend to take over the rest of the board.

Just a suggestion - the season starts with North and South groups in the Cup. If there's a worry that a single game thread may become too lengthy or unweildy, how about two threads, one for each Group. By the end of the Cup group stage, you'll have a better idea of what might be best for the League when it starts in December.

Interesting idea KO, I like it, always worth trying new things. I mostly agree with LTs predictions. I would like to think Nix could beat Eagles, but we would need to be at 90% strength. Fingers crossed that 7 of our players will be kitted up on Friday night. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the new Eagles venue. The all important question... Will they have 'proper' hotdogs 😂

Disappointed that I can't get there this time, you'll like their new place, be looking out for you on the new YouTube streaming. Difficult to decide on the winners, Eagles still not played much together, Nix not certain of who is fit. Is Uncle Jeff still commentating does anyone know?

Is Uncle Jeff still commentating does anyone know? That’s an interesting question across all games to be honest… there was an announcement during the summer that the game coverage may not have commentators anymore. Whilst I agree some were, to be brutally honest, poor, I’d be disappointed if we don’t get anything. I’ll also be interested in seeing how the new ‘robot cameras’ installed at all venues over the summer work too. Looking forward to getting some answers tomorrow night!

I'm predicting wins for Rocks, Flyers, Lions, Riders. The Eagles v Phoenix game I'm not sure about! I can't remember if I had Phoenix down to beat the Eagles in the prediction thread.

For good or bad, there will be commentary at all games provided by the clubs. Not sure robocam is up and running at all venues yet. Think some callobration of cameras will be taking place this weekend during games so single camera link to youtube for those games.

Maybe an idea, we'll see how this one goes first although saying that I guess it wouldn't be much different from the general pre-season thread would it?

All the games together in one thread will stop anyone complaining their own match thread has been taken over by others
It won't stop conversations going off on all sorts of complicated tangents though. That's inevitable
Will be complicated threads
I think I will miss being able to see the results of matches in the thread title myself
And having to go looking for the results in complicated threads. That could be a downside
I guess adding the results as they come in to the opening post of the thread would help so all the results are together
Apologies if this is already discussed. I'm just responding to the opening thread idea and haven't read all the comments yet

Also we would want all the livestats links adding to the opening post with game times etc?
Wouldn't we?

Regarding the robocams – that makes sense. I thought it might be risky to go live with them if they haven’t been fully piloted in all venues. Good idea to pilot the robocams (non-broadcast) in parallel with the original manned cameras until they’re ready to make the switch. Any idea what venues have the robocams ready to go-live this weekend?

Onto the action Riders unlikely to be at full strength with Mo Walker yet to feature for us.
But I will hope we still have enough to beat Sharks
Riders by 8 plus
And I think wolves might give lions some problems

And I think wolves might give lions some problems Is that because you think Wolves are much stronger this season, or because you think Lions are much weaker?

Out of the last 13 games flyers and scorchers have played, scorchers have won 9!! And the away team seem to get the W!

Looking forward to tomorrow night and the 'real' action to start. I don't really do pre-season games but nice we have won them all.
Interesting to see the new Riders, although still without Walker.
Is this really the 'real' action though , will clubs be treated the cup as an extended warm up for the league?

I am and will have my trusty sidekick Coach Dave Elderkin alongside me as usual. Not sure the robocam will be working though.

I am excited by tonight's game. If we have a fit roster (excluding Mo of course) then I reckon we'll be significantly better than we were in the two pre-season home games. And, frankly, we were pretty damn good then, especially in terms of offence. As Cartwright improves his understanding of the other players and also puts points on the board then individuals like Wright (great prospect) will benefit even more from some fantastic assists. The only dark cloud on our horizon is the no-show of Mo Walker. Hopefully, that'll be resolved one way or the other very soon. Last season it was so frustrating watching several players on the sidelines (literally) and not knowing whether they were going to be retained or cut. That dragged on for weeks. Don't want that again.
